I received a check in the mail and it appears to be real but I don't want to cash it if it is a scam. A letter with the check says that is part of a grant that I have won. And the check that is enclosed is to cover legal fees. But they want me to cash it then send a portion of it to an agent who will then release the remainder of the funds which will be delivered within 5 business days via courier.

Do you have a paper shredder? Drop it in !!!
Never pay money to get a prize, grant etc... If you won it they should be happy to bring it to your door personally and with cameras!

It's one of the biggest scams going. Maybe you should turn it over to law enforcement. They may be able to track who's running the scam and put a stop to it.
