If you want to use plastic over the internet the best way is to have a (low) pre arranged maximum spend on your card or better still use a pre paid card so that if anyone steals your details you can only loose a small amount.

Just check that the site is secure (padlock symbol in browser) and use credit card rather than debit card. With credit cards you have extra consumer protection. It really is no more 'unsafe' than using your card in a store. If you but something online and it isn't supplied then the card company HAS TO refund you.

Just make sure you read descriptions carefully so that you know what iot is you're buying, and remember... if it looks too good to be true, it probably is ;)

Use credit card only on-line... better protection in the 'what-if' situation..
and don't be silly - by saving pin no's etc on your comp or tellin someone your details...
check statement regular and ensure you chase ANY weird transactions....

I have been doing this for a few years now, and had no problems. Always make sure the company has a secure website, and make sure that your bank will protect you in the event of fraud.

If you go to a legit store with a secure website you shouldn't have any problems. In recent years there have been as many brick-and-mortar stores having cc info stolen as online ones.
