I am currently 2 months behind on my personal loan at american general, Can they garnish my wages???

They said that they can file a claim in small claims court to get my wages garnished

yes, but not before they get a judgment against you, which will entail you being personally served or by certified mail.

I believe that would have to come through a court order, but I am not sure. What I can tell you is that the last thing you want is bad credit. You need to do whatever you can to pay what you owe.

I know you probably don't want to hear it, but get a part time job to make up the difference. If you don't you will suffer because of bad credit for a long time.

Yes, but if you're in contact with your bank, and are trying to get them paid, it's very unlikely that they would go to that extreme.
