I'm now a federal employee and I have no plans on returning to my old state job.

The state retirement is a defined benefit plan and the account is earning about 5% a year. I think I could do better than that in my Roth IRA but I don't want to pay any kind of tax penalty in the rollover, so if that is the consequence, I would probably go with the TSP.

I saw this ad and I'm wondering if it's possible, or likely:

Buy a house and pay off your debts!
You can buy a house and pay off your debts in your real estate purchase.
If you didnt have your car payment or credit cards bills, you could afford a house payment and get a big paycheck at tax time.

Thanks!

I worked in a company for eight and half years and got my PF account transferred to the pf account of new company who has PF trust in Mumbai. I worked with new company for six months and left this organisation also.

In this way, my PF account is existing for nine years. Now I want to withdraw my PF accumulation. I have been told that a part of PF accumulation is transferred to PF pension scheme and I will be getting amount of only for Provident fund amount and my PF pension amount cannot be withdrawn.

Please let me know that will I get full amount of my PF accumulation (i.e., PRovident Fund amount + PF Pension account) and I am entitled only for Provident Fund amount.

Fast fool proof ideas

Both our names are on the title and there is an "and" clause that indicates he cannot sell it without my signature. He plans on selling the bike and "cutting his losses." Is there a way for me to call the bank and take over payments without his interference?
What options if any do I have? This former friend turned out to be an over compulsive alcoholic and hit me. I had to file a report with the police. Does anyone have any advice? I called the bank to take my name off the account to make sure he doesn't mess up my already bad credit. Thanks.

I'm just wondering, since I read that a lot of people were unemployed for months before they find a job.

Is there a fool proof easy way to develop a budget that I can follow? I've got a lot of debt, i.e. credit cards, loans, etc. (22,000), along with 2 mortgages. I know that usual "spend less than make" but is there a plan or website that can give me some guidance, without charging a fee? I'm willing to take on a second job, that's what it takes. Thanks for the advice.

I would like to retire in 30 years, without sharing my income, how much do I need to put away a month, and into what type of vehicles, to retire with $3-4 million.

And finally, how much will the pay out be from that retirement fund per year after taxes? and for how long can it last?

Many many thanks! :)

I owned a seafood trading company, and at one point my wife's father wanted to invest in the company. Which he did 40K, my company did not survive and now I am facing Chapter 7 bankruptcy, I feel guilty about the situation, but there is no way I can pay back that money, at least right now, he is madder than hell, I am filing at the end of the month, I would pay back the money in the future if I am able to no doubt, I have about 1000 bucks to my name and no job right now. What does everyone else out there think??

ie. would a $50,000 salary, plus $15,000 for housing (although living in a church owned parsonage) actually be a $65,000 package...and a paycheck of $65,000 divided by 12 per month ($5416.66/mo)?

I am looking to open up my first index fund or mutual fund account. I have looked at Vanguard and I was wondering If anyone had experience with Vanguard or other investment groups. I was thinking a Vanguard balanced index fund.

What are other reputable investment groups I should look at that offer low fees and lots of options?

Other info, I am young, my employeer does not offer a 401K and I plan on saving about 30% of my after tax income for growth, retirement and just general savings.

We closed our homeloan on a home we built 3 months ago and final appraisal was$245,000 which is what it needed to be around for approval since we were borrowing $190,000. we already owned the land prior to building. After closing we went to refinance with a different company who approved us at the lower rate only one thing was wrong...the appraisal came in at $160,000. Needless to say we were shocked since apparently our home depreciated $85,000 in 3 months!! after reviewing original appraisal we found many misrepresentations of supposed home values used for comparisons, as well as an inflated value of our land already owned and when I contacted lender they said that agent was fired for questionable practices and that was that. Soon after they sold my loan to another company which was also shocking since this bank bragged about how they dont sell their loans off. can i sue for this or what? what type of lawyer? Any help would be great

I just found out that a few people at my work, who started about the same time as I did, give or take a couple weeks, or months; are making about $2.00 or $3.00 more per hour. They do take different calls in which they are supposed to make $1 to $1.50 more, but for some reason I think they are jipping me. They always tell me I am doing good and my scores are high, but they just give me $10 gift certicicates once a month, and passes to dress casual. I would rather get a raise..Does anyone have suggestions, I need help..I need a raise..please help..I don't deserve to be used...

I bought a computer and had 0% for a year. I owe less then $300. Last month the interest ended and now they are charging me over $400 in interest. I knew there was going to be interest but when I first bought it they told there would only be interest for the remaining balance not the total purchase. I already talked to Dell and they just apolgized for the misunderstanding and said they could only waive $50. But is there anything else I can do? What would you do? Should I just pay it or should I just get bad credit and not pay?
