I must buy something before it expires. What would be a good deal? They wont let me convert it to cash. Sears card is lousy! Go for the Cash Rewards Plus Visa by Chase which pays 5x the points as the lousy Sears card.

My friend just inherited this amount of money after his mother passed away. It's all in his brokerage account, taxes paid already. Where would he have to move to and how would he have to live in order to retire and not have to work again and make this money last for the next 45 to 55 years. Do you think it's possible? Could he live a decent life?

I am under a contract and already approved for a home loan. I have asked many different brokers, morgage consultants and my personal banker about which morgage option is best for me. I have the 20% cash to put down on this 300K home. I am not sure if I should go with a 30 year fixed, 15 year fixed or an interest only and keep some of my money each month. I am perplexed!!! I do not know how long I will stay in the home maybe up to 5-10 years...Just not sure!
Thanks,

Today a cashier asked to see my identification when I tried to pay for something with my Visa credit card. I thought they weren't allowed to do that. When I asked why it was necessary she assured me that it was for my protection, that she needed to know that I was really me and not someone who had stolen the card (this was before the card was swiped or she even looked at the signature). I searched the Visa website and the only time merchants are instructed to ask for ID is when the card is unsigned. With all the fraud protection offered by the credit card companies it seems unreasonable and insulting that I should have to prove I'm not a theif! Can I refuse to show my ID? If I won't show my ID, can the merchant refuse to accept my perfectly good, non-stolen credit card?

The new job is still in the medical field, though a different type. It pays about 75% of the old job but is much less stressful. I have $20,000 for a down payment, and prior to losing the last job I had a credit score of 810. Other than being unemployed for the last year, nothing has changed (no outstanding debt).
If I have to I will rent for another year and save more for a down payment, though I don't like the idea of renting for another year.

I've recently disputed several things on my credit report in addition to paying a few large loans completely off (ex; $25k student loan - paid in full). I also have enough money saved to provide a substantial deposit/downpayment.
I am a self-employed independent contractor.
