I'm 17 and want to save some money for college next year. I want to open a savings account somewhere with as high a APR as possible. The only problem is that most banks want 1,000 or more dollars to even open an account. I only have about 500 dollars. Does any one know any banks where I could open a savings account with such a small principle? I really want to start saving to be on my own next year!

I'm in a sticky situation. My ex-husband and I (when were married) filed for Chapter 13. SInce the divorce, I pay half the bankruptcy payment and he the other half. At the time we filed, we included our car payments in the bankruptcy, so until our last bankruptcy payment(which will be in 2 years, the lien holder will still have the title to my car. Since I'm still paying in bankruptcy and the lien holder has my title, I have to pay full coverage insurance(state law-GA). Well my car is finally inoperable and I am paying cash for another. Well it is operable but I refuse to put MORE money into a piece of junk to get it fixed. How do I get out from under paying insurance and registration on the old one without a title? Can I turn the car back over to the lien holder with no further obligation? What are my options?

For years, when I deposit my paycheck (using the deposit slips that come with my checks), I always put the bank routing number (you know the number above the date, preprinted on the checks - usually a number like this 85-443 with a line under it), next to the amount on the deposit slip. For some reason I've always thought this was what they were asking for. But I've always wondered if the number they want is the check number (the unique # for the check, sequential).

Not one teller has ever said anything to me, so I thought I'd ask here. Am I doing it wrong? Does it even matter?

I presently have an endowment interest only mortgage for £60,000. The mortgage runs for 25 years and have ten years left. Can anyone give me a ball park figure of how much capital I would had paid off if I had taken out a repayment mortgage instead?

I just want to build some credit, so I was thinking that i should use my credit card instead of my debit card and just put the money in my credit card instead of my bank account.
would that be good?

We are done paying on our bankruptcy plan. We were Chapter 13 for 36 months and we just made our last payment this month. Here is our problem: My husband totalled his truck last Friday and the insurance gave us $2756. Will we find used car places that will finance even though we have not been discharged from the bankruptcy?

I got my tax refund and paycheck both today. Both are pending in my bank account, but the "available balance" reflects both of these in the amount.

Now, my daughter's birthday is very close and I wanted to go out tonight and do some shopping for her. Should I wait since they are pending? Or because it says available will it for sure go through before anything else new on the account?

I would get 4% dividend in the savings account and my interest on my student loan is 8.5% with about a 3800 balance. The Interest from the student loan is tax deductible!
