I got a letter congratulating me on winning $50k. And there was a check inside for $3000. It said to deposit it in my checking account and to use it to pay taxes. I later found that it's a scam and that the check is most likely counterfeit.

But the problem is, I already deposited in my bank via ATM.... so what will happen now? It's a Canadian check and my bank if Bank of America. When it bounces will I be responsible for any fees or even prosecuted?????

credit cards in three different names...some of them in her three former married names and one in her single name before marriage? This woman floats credit and is maxed out. Her last house was forclosed on for nonpayment of 10 months, and then it was dropped and she went out and bought a brand new house and re-furnished the whole house on credit. Can people do this....legally. Now they are buying stocks and lottery tickets. What do you make of this????

Ok, I recently bought a laptop from a guy. However, after using the computer for one week, I discovered that it's basically a piece of crap. Therefore, I was wondering how I'd be able to void the check so that he couldn't cash it.

The credit card company and I go before an arbitrator the end of February. My only income is my social security checks each month. I'm 24 years old, two years graduated. I just recieved a very very nice christmas bonus, and I'm torn between paying off a big chunk of my student loans, or contributing it to the Roth IRA I opened last year. It's very attractive to me to have my loans paid off, but I also know the earlier the better for the IRA. What do you think?
