No. I would take $500,000 and buy a nice house and two cars in cash and pay off my all of my bills with the rest.

The other $500,000 I would invest such that I would have an annual return of at least 10%. With no mortgage, car notes or debt, I could easily live off of the dividends/interest while I work on my dream of becoming a successful author.

Absolutely, life's too short.
I would donate 10% to charity.
10% to my mum and dad and spend the rest.
I believe that if you had one million, then there will be more coming...
my budget is "How much money am I going to make today?"

I would use some of it for bills and maybe splurge on myself a little but the rest would be invested and saved for the future.
