nature or nurture!?......

...are those who are attracted to business, deficient in their ethical make-up...before they ever get to business schools and universities.......?

........or is their business education, devoid of any ethical considerations...and so ..generating amoral action/strategies, at the top of all businesses?

ie: are they taught/encouraged to be amoral, by their very course material?...or is it just that more amoral people are attracted into business than other line of work?

and are they taught that the greed of shareholders,is "obviously"[!] to be put above any reponsibility to the wider community...and the wider world?

We have had nothing but trouble getting Sears to come out on a Service call. We have Extended Service Contracts with them and they make us wait 2 to 3 weeks to come out to repair our washer or do maintenance service on our air conditioning! Many times they never show up and when we call-several times- they say the tech is backed up .Finally afterr 4 or 5 calls they tell us it was canceled as they had no tech available. Recently our washer needed major repair to the tune $500 in parts and labor. They didn't show up 3 times and when they did they fixed it. Today the washer dumped water all over the place again. We called and explained the situation and got nowhere! Now we have to wait 2 more weeks for the tech to show up. If he comes at all. We asked if they could send someone soon to ok a new washer . We were told that we had to wait for the tech to say that we need a replacement! I emailed customer service. No one gets backto me. What should we do?

Nepotism is where a company hires a person because they are a relative of an existing employee. In other words, if you and I were competing for a job and we were equally skilled, I would get the job because my father works at the company.

A recent story in the news at Yahoo! has a man complaining of nepotism at a mine in Newfoundland:
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/16062007/3/canada-father-sees-nepotism-s-hiring-practices.html

My question to you is whether you feel it should be illegal. If so, how would you enforce that?

If two candidates were equally skilled, would it not make sense to choose the relative of an existing reliable employee, since you already know them and are hoping that this honesty and reliabilty is true of their whole family?

I thought this is how most businesses work, so I am not sure what recourse this fellow has. What are your thoughts on this?

They said that I filled out an entry form at a mall. It was actually my brother's email they had. How can I know if this is a scam or if it's real? They said if I called them back right away, I would be able to get free tickets to a ball game. Is there a way I can verify a 1-800 number online? I tried reverse lookup, but nothing came up.

They said their company was World Market by Wyndam. How can I check to see if this is for real?

I am sending a sterling silver toothpaste tube key by first class to Canada. The package will weigh about 6 oz. There are restrictions for silver and other items. I know it will have to be registered. What about boxing and packaging. What kind of material can I use to package item for shipping? Do I have to use a certain kind of tape and box wrapping? Will a brown box and clear tape work?

My friends and I are working on a graphic novel, and we're wondering about the copyrighting process. I've seen a few posts about copyrighting, and I have found numerous links to the general process and the prices involved. Anything not ours within the work will be of public domain, so obviously we're trying to protect the overall work/characters/idea from being stolen/used without our permission.

By submitting and copyrighting a rough version of our work does it protect the idea, the characters, the plot, etc or do certain things have to be registered separately on top of that submission? Does the submission for copyright need to be a final draft, or just complete enough to encompass what we'll be using? Should we send in any future volumes in for copyright as well or does simply copyrighting the original work give us control of and copyright for further works?

Thanks for any help/tips particularly if you've dealt with the process before.
