On paypal, I opened a dispute and escalated it into a claim . Did paypal freeze the funds in the sellers account? And if they did, when? Did they freeze it during the dispute or claim?

No, unfortunately they do not freeze the funds. I have been in the same position. Ebay is pretty good at resolving claims but I have had to really fight a couple of times. I even had to file mail fraud charges. Eventually I got my money though. Use all of the resources Ebay has to offer, and if it doesn't work, feel free to contact me and I will tell you what I had to do. Good luck!

No only the account holding bank or credit card can do that. If you put a lein against the persons assetes this will give the bank legal reason to. Therre needs to be a court order. I worked in a bank for 6 years, and people have had similare things happen to them. It sucks, but thats the risk with ebay :( I hope you get your money!!

dont give up, continue talking with paypal, it shows you are legit. constantly check in and leave comments on the subject. you have about a 50/50 chance. i have found that paypal disputes are very slow, and not always reliable like they say they are.
