I bought an MP3 player for my grandson on 11/25. Fedex said it was deliverd on 12/5 but it was not delivered to my daughters address. They said they would ship another one. On 12/15 I called back because my daughter had not received the player and they said the warehouse was shut down for 3 days so the item couldn't be shipped in time for Xmas and my money would be refunded. I called Circuit City every week since then. I was told on 12/28 that my card would be credited with 7 or 8 business days. My math is bad but I think we're way beyond that now! On 1/26 I was told my case was assigned to someone and I would receive a call within 24 hours. They missed that deadline. I was told I could not speak to the person they assigned to my case. Today they relunctantly transferred me to that person (who probably sits next to the person I was talking to) but I was so very, very shocked when my call went to voice mail. NOT!!!!!! Any advice?

I am receiving dozens of these per week, mostly it seems trying to persuade me to place an order for a product with that company at a grossly inflated price, jmplying only if we place an order will the winning cheque immediately be sent. But it never is and it is clear it never will be. The alleged winning amount is usually £10,000 or something of that order. We usually dump them, unless there just happens to be an item we are interested in buying. Most seem to be based within EU, like Biotonic and Star shopping in Belgium, "Best Of" in Ireland etc. but others are from Switzerland like Swiss Home Shopping. Ignoring them does not stop them sending more such junk. Does anybody know how these sorts of scams can best be dealt with by Law. within the U.K.. Trading Standards were not very helpful when we contacted them preferring to look the other way it seems..

Schools, clubs, and churches have prize-raffles all the time. Various magazines and companies run sweepsteaks all the time. When do these things cross the line over to illegal gambling?

I ordered an item for $11.99 over the internet then sent them the check. Then I had to send them and additional $8.99 for shipping costs and they told me they had to have my UPS address so they could ship the item to me. I gave them the right address and they said the item was returned to them because I gave them the wrong address but I didn't, so now they want me to give them another $8.99 for reshipping costs. So, should I pay another 8.99 or request my $11.99 back? The place I ordered from is GSS Store/ Star Safety Trading.

I must have sat there for nearly 5 minutes. There was about a 30 pause where no traffic was moving at all, then they changed. Why can't they change quickly and prompty like the normal light do?

Seems to me the USA borrows more and more to now impossible levels. All debt is owed to someone... either foreign investors or mostly in form of USA citizens for pensions ect.

Isn't approaching $9 trillion a massively burdensome debt which is now impossible to repay all owed ? Won't the USA financial system implode at some point ?

I let my mom borrow my car to get to work for about 6 months. I knew she had it, I never insured it and neither did she. My dad is abusive and tries to contol everyone and their possessions (my car, my apartment, my bf's car). He hit a local business and caused 15k of damage. He has never worked and my mom just recently started a job-I have had to work for everything in my life and I'm frustrated with always being taken advantage of.

My dad was taken away from the scene in an ambulance, the owner's of the property he hit never received his name or contact info. Since the car is registered to me, am I liable? Although it was his accident, will my future car insurance premium go up because of this?

The center bills your department $0.09 per page. You have investigated the possibility of buying a departmental copier for $4500. With your own copier, the cost per page would be $ 0.03. The expected life of the copier is 6 years. You figure that you must make at least_____ copies per year to justify buying the copier.

I am wondering what will become of this legislation... It seems that many companies are petitioning the government to do away with the requirements for mid-tier businesses (i.e. those SEC, non-accelerated filers) for which the requirements are not yet in effect. Is it me or are people forgetting what just happened to the public in 2000? Management says no to SOx. Isn't management inherently biased?
It appears to me that with Mr. Bush signing the "Pension Protection Act of 2006" that the requirement of internal controls over financial reporting for public companies would be more important for all US workers who are having their cash put into 401(k) plans without their explicit consent. Ofcourse, those that didn't actively choose their retirement options probably don't vote that much and don't realize what is happening to that $ they don't see in their paychecks. I see a big set up for people to lose their futures if the Gov't repeals this law. Am I wrong?
