I am receiving dozens of these per week, mostly it seems trying to persuade me to place an order for a product with that company at a grossly inflated price, jmplying only if we place an order will the winning cheque immediately be sent. But it never is and it is clear it never will be. The alleged winning amount is usually £10,000 or something of that order. We usually dump them, unless there just happens to be an item we are interested in buying. Most seem to be based within EU, like Biotonic and Star shopping in Belgium, "Best Of" in Ireland etc. but others are from Switzerland like Swiss Home Shopping. Ignoring them does not stop them sending more such junk. Does anybody know how these sorts of scams can best be dealt with by Law. within the U.K.. Trading Standards were not very helpful when we contacted them preferring to look the other way it seems..

Think you are talking about junk mail coming through Royal Mail postal service not coming on internet? Yes I get loads of this stuff and the crucial thing is never answer it and never order any product linked to a "You Have won".because if you answer they will simply pass your name and address as a sucker to others and you will get more and more of the same. I have never heard of anyone ever actually getting the stated cheque but the wording can be very misleading. Do not think they can be dealt with in EU Law?. .

It's happening here in the U.S., too. I filled out a questionnaire online after I had my yahoo account for over a year (pretty much spam free). Within a couple of days my junk mail was full, now I receive about 150 "congratulations..." e-mails per day and I'm sick and tired of it. The only way to have your name removed is to request it for each and every site, who the heck has time for that? So, we feel your pain in the U.S., too.

yeah, i think almost everyone does...best thing to do is get an email scanner (spam blocker) and it will block a lot of that junk, then on the other hand i think you can manually block some of it though you email account, but i think its limited to how many you can block, also you may be able to report and delete the emails in hope that you wont get anymore for the same people
