How many of you out there have systematically had your insurance claims denied by AFI, for something you should have been covered for? Very curious to know about any patterns.

My parents are divorced and I have no relationship with my father. He took out Life Insurance Policies in my name and my brothers back in the early 90's. We are both now over 21 and have recently discovered these policies.
Now it states in the policies that they "expire" when either we turn 21, or he turns 65 which ever comes first. They are in his name only because we were babies when he took them out. My question is, does he legally have to sign them over to us because we are of age? I think it is illegal for him to have something in my name without my permission, is that correct? He refuses to sign them over to us so we can continue them. And is he allowed to cancel them, or withdraw the money now because they shouldn’t they be "expired"? I talked to the office that they were placed through, but because he is still the "Policy Holder" they cannot tell me anything ... help me please!!!

My wife was having severe headaches and feared she had a serious medical problem. I took her in to the emergency room, they gave her a shot and a perscription and diagnosed it as sinusitis (sp). The insurance company is claiming the visit was unneccesary. To me, it seemed a necessay precaution. What can I do to get them to pay up?

if you're hiv positive and are currently covered with an insurance policy, but will be changing jobs where group coverage is not an option, what are your options for health insurance? are hiv positive people stuck in their jobs for life just to keep insurance? from what i've found, public insurance benefits only apply when you're dirt poor and have no home.

My daughter was involved in a minor accident on New Year's Day. She told me that her and the other lady involved said they would work something out since it was a minor accident. (her rear bumper). She's calling the house asking for a $500.00 deductible to get her bumper fixed or she was going to take my daughter to small claims court. The reason I thought it was more to this, was because rather than letting my daughter get an estimate for her, she would rather go through her insurance company and possibly pay an extremely higher premium for just bumper damage. Even though my daughter was in the wrong, how can she avoid be scammed for money. We live in Michigan, were it's a no-fault insurance state.

I see this often where someone buys an item at a medical supply company and is told it will be covered by insurance. Later, they receive a bill because it was not covered after all. Is it the patient's responsibility to verify coverage with the insurance company prior to purchase or the responsibility of the seller not to falsely represent coverage in the first place?

Health cost are very high. If an employer is required to offer health insurance everyone will have access to Health insurance and an employer can get the policy at a group rate. I think the buisness should make the employee pay the full premium which is at a group rate or the Employee can pay for part or all as a fringe benifit. Do you think this would be a good idea? Why? or Why not?

I'm looking for US insurance companies that offer this service - i.e. instead of buying home insurance to cover everything, to buy insurance just for individual items.

Can anybody recommend a place to get a quote? Thanks
