Insurance does not cover upkeep. Rewiring the house or mobile would be considered upkeep.

it's true that bad wiring is a fire hazard. it's not up to the insurance company to maintain your home, it's up to YOU to do that. So no, homeowners policies don't pay maintenance issues, including rewiring your house.

If they find out you have a fire hazard there, and arent' doing anything to fix it, they can cancel your policy.

no... just because it WILL cause a covered peril, does not afford you coverage to fix it to prevent a covered peril.

However, the fact that you are aware of the hazard puts you in direct violation of your contact.

Under the terms of most HO policies, you are under an obligation to do everything in your power to mitigate further damage to your home. Normally this is used in reference to a claim that has happened.. however if a fire inspector was brought in and advised the adjuster of the condition of your wiring, as an adjuster, I would use it to deny coverage, assuming that you were waiting for a loss to occur.

No.

Insurance is not a warranty program. True, it may be a fire hazard, but it's usually a maintenance issue, caused over time and due to deterioration. These are usually excluded in insurance policies.

Insurance only covers damage to the insured object caused by an insured peril. Unless the wiring was damaged by an insured peril, this is not covered. It is up to you as the policy holder to eliminate or minimize to the best of your ability unsafe conditions.
