I am an insurance agent for a company. I have always been intrigued with becoming an independent agent, but I really don't know much about it. What are the good and bad things to becoming independent? What is the income/income potential? Any advice or adverse information is appreciated! Thanks!

My fiance started a new job last year and was told he would have benefits after 90 days. When his 90 days was up, we never received a card for his insurance, but his employer kept promising that he had insurance. Shortly after (my fiance suffers from severe GERD) we had to make a trip to the emergency room with a related problem. We now have a bill for $3,000.00 because it turns out the employer was lying and did NOT put my fiance on the insurance list. We took the bill to the employer and they said they would look at it, and possible make a payment plan. That was two weeks ago and they are still stalling. Aren't they at least partly responsible for this? If we took them to court for the charges, would we win?

My son (17) had permission to drive his uncle's car to the store when he was staying at his house. My son is in an accident and the car is totaled. I now find out his uncle does not have insurance on the car. Am I responsible for "replacing" the car? Does his uncle have any liability at all? I have full coverage on my cars. Will my insurance kick in at any point?

Hi everyone in the past year I got into a accedent once, had over 12 police tickets, such as running red lights, etc etc. Had my license suspended 4-5 times. I also had a insurance company cancell on me for non-payment since they were asking 900 a month from me. Its really bad, How long does it take for all this to be gone and i can get insured again? i want to start driving again asap. But regarding the 12 police ticket's I still havent paid them yet and my license is still suspended. Is there anyway i can take it to court and battle it out say im a student etc?? 8 of those police ticket was giving to be my by this dirty cop that pinned me for everything even small things like having a chrome plate around my license plate.

Is it really necessary? I just bought a 2007 Jeep Patriot and it is being offered by my credit union. I know it prob is a good idea, but, when your counting each penny - is it a REALLY GOOD idea?

I am looking into life insurance policies for my husband and I, but I am not sure what kind of policy I need (term, whole, universal, etc..)

I just want something to where if one of us dies, the living spouse and the children will be compensated. I also want a policy that you can borrow off of if need be.

Would someone please explain the differences to me. Also, if you can recommend a good insurance company, that would be helpful too.

Thanks in advance!

I took a job with a very large company but only worked there for a few days for personal reasons beyond my control. Health insurance went into effect on the first day of employment. Will they be required to offer me COBRA? While they were very nice and understanding I am not comfortable asking them this question.

I am only 18, I know young. And i will be graduating this year. I live about an hour from Chicago and would like to be hired by a company there. I am debating about going to college, but my friends dad said I don't need to go. (he is an Insurance agent). I am a people person, and am very well liked. But my question is-How to get started? Should I just become that of an assistant? Or get a side sales job, and get my lisence on my own? Any general information would be very helpful, thank you. And if you are an insurance agent, do you like your job?

A few years ago I was on some psychiatric drugs and I ran out and couldn't get more. The result was I tried to commit suicide but the police stoped me and took me to the hospital. The doctors there said I can either voluntarily commit myself or the doctor would do it for me. Since I didn't have a choice I decided to cooperate and I went voluntarily. I was only in the hospital for 3 or 4 days but the bill they sent me was for over $8000. My insurence didn't cover all of it and now the hospital is sending collection agencys after me for $1500. There is no way I can pay for this because I'm unable to work. I applied for social security disability but they denied me. I'm at a total loss. Now I'm wishing I had jumped.
