My stepdad smokes a pack a day, and drives a truck for a living and I was wondering what would be a good life insurance for my mom should anything happen to him since he seems like high risk? They are middle class family in the burbs.

I was involved in an auto-accident in 2005 I was 12 weeks pregnant. The accident was not determined to be my fault at all. The woman failed to stop, her insurance USAA paid off my vechile at $14,000. I sustained a right knee injury requiring 2 arthroscopy's and one major surgery (cartilage replacement) total medical bills insofar $144,182.25. My ortho says there is nothing else that can be done. My fear is her liability insurance might not cover my total medical expenses, the adjuster told me I might have to put a claim agaisnt her policy but did not elaborate further when I asked what he meant. (thought thats what I was doing) She was 96 at the time of accident, what if she passes away then what do I do?

I was once told by one of my professors that the law allows you to not pay car insurance as long as you have a certain amount of money on reserve for paying the cost of the accident (if the judge found you to be the cause.) Is this true or the law have changed?

If it's true, it would sound logical to test the stats to see the probability of you getting into an accident and the time you can avoid paying insurance.

Any thoughts?

My husband and I have United Healthcare Insurance. We have a $1200.00 deductible. We have a 25.00 copayment. I was told that we only have to pay the copayment to see a doctor, that they would cover the rest, My question is what is the 1200.00 deductible for if we don't have to meet it before we can see a doctor.. I am confused...

back on december 30th 2006 my pickup was totaled in an accident. it was a 98 s-10 and was not paid for. my payments were being made to chase bank through a chapter 13 bankruptcy trustee. a few days later after i got the news from my insurance company that it was a total loss, i went to my lawyer and had a chapter 7 conversion done. the purpose of that was to have the garnishment of my wages stopped. about the middle of jan., my insurance co. sent me a letter telling me that i was to receive a check. after waiting almost 3 months, i have been told by my chapter 7 trustee that since my truck will have to be paid off first before i see any money, that it could be another 1 to 3 months before i get a check if any thing is left over. i am really counting on that money to help me get a vehicle and my patience is wearing thin. my question is this; do i have any legal recourse, and if so, against the insurance company,or the lienholder, which is chase bank.

my insurance ran out for my car in december and the insurance company put a new policy in place and began removing money through direct debit without my consent. i left this proerty shortly before a letter arrived that states they where going to issue me with a new policy.
i never got a chance to reply to this letter until march when i caught up with my post. my worry is that how long would this have continued if i had not caught up with my post another year maybe two "indeffinitly perhaps?". is there any other bodies i could complain to or any other routes i could go down to take this matter further without having to take legal action. this happened in the- u k
