What is the real reason for life insurance? if you are single should you buy it? What is it used for? Does it have a purpose in people's lives? Why do you have to pay for it each month for? Can you use it to pay off bills like credit cards etc..?When do you get the money from life insurance? or is it something that you can own but never use in your life?

I complained about the shortfall in my endowment policy, but was told that it had "timed out" as too much time had passed since I had first been notified of the shortfall. Is there any way around this?

I've done all the other calculations through turbotax, but the last question before filing, the dreaded itemized list of items stolen has me stymied. Do I have to list everything or is it possible to enter the amounts calculated by my insurance company (i.e., one lump sum amount)?

The problem is the my COBRA Health insurance is going to run out within 5 month.
It cost me $380 per month, for me only.
As of October 2006, my COBRA health insurance no longer covered my medicine, which cost me over $300 per month out of my pocket.

I am 35 years old with no medical problem.
The current company I am working for the past 10 months refusedto hire me in as an employee, so I am still a temp.

What health insurance do you recommend for basic coverage?
And how long does the process takes? (1 month, 2 months, 3 months, etc...)

Hi,

I am 30 years old and my wife and I had a combined income of approx $62,000 for 2006. In august of this year I will be quitting my full time job and going back to school full time. My current salary is $50,000. I anticipate making no more than $20,000 while in school and not being able to get health insurance through work. My income for 2007 will screw up my chances of getting most federal aid for the first year and will probably exclude me from healthy NY as well. Insurance through school is about $600 a month. I've gotten quotes of $513 to $1200 a month for my wife and I. All I want is catastrophic coverage in case either of us have any major problems or I have an accident while riding my motorcycle (a means of transportation, not a toy). These online quotes are driving me crazy. Where is the best place for me to look for something that will cover these specific conditions and how much should I expect to pay? Thanks in advance!!

My friend lost her husband in an accident a couple weeks ago. She found out days after his death that she was pregnant. The Cobra coverage through his employer is over $600 monthly. Does anyone know of an insurance company with reasonable rates that will cover a pre-existing pregnancy?

I have decided that I would like to have gastric lap-band surgery. Over the past 15 years my weight has yo yo-ed and I cannot seem to maintain the weight I lose. Please refrain from lectures on healthy living, diet and exercise. I have heard it all and totally agree....I just can't seem to maintain those goals over a long period of time. Any suggestions on how to present a successful appeal to my insurance company that might compell them to cover the cost of this surgery?

There is a young couple renting the place next to us who have put a trampoline right up against our privacy fence that is around our front yard. It's a very large one, at LEAST 10 feet wide and tall enough that the neighbors can stand on it and look over our 6 ft. fence.
I'm annoyed at our loss of privacy, but what I'm more concerned with is the possibility of someone jumping on this thing and flying over my fence.
So, my questions are:
1. Would I be liable if someone were to fly over the fence and get hurt?

and 2. Does anyone know if they are supposed to keep that thing a certain distance from adjoining properties?

The neighbors next to us are in the same boat because the trampoline is against their fence as well.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

p.s. Asking them to move the thing will get me nowhere, I've already tried and they responded by moving it closer.
