I complained about the shortfall in my endowment policy, but was told that it had "timed out" as too much time had passed since I had first been notified of the shortfall. Is there any way around this?

No - if you have exceeded the time limit then nothing you can do. You would have received several shortfall notices from the insurance provider. If you are not satisfied - go the ombudsman.

I think you need either a Finacial Advisoer or a Lawyer to answer that one.

Having been told but not doing anything about it, makes it a bit difficult .

Do myou mean you cannot top-up your insurance? You can buy another new policy if you want to.
