In Feb (2 months ago) I was rear ended at an intersection by a drunk driver. It was 3pm, I was on my way to class, and he hit me out of nowhere. This was his second offense. He was arrested that day on DUI/drug charges. He was fully insured by Nationwide Insurance. Turns out he has a LONG list of driving violations, speeding tickets, and such.
I was taken by ambulance to the hospital, and then went again the next day. I have been to my medical doctor and chiropractor since then. I had never been in the hospital before, or to a chiropractor, and my neck/back are now messed up. I have had a MRI, and a ton of prescription. I have lost the natural curve in my neck, my vertebra are out of alignment, and I am having BAD, BAD headaches. I had $3000 damage to my car, and over $5000 in medical bills.
How much pain and suffering can I get? Until this point, I was healthy, and fit. Since then, I can’t work out at the gym, and I’m getting headaches which affect my concentration, and sometimes my vision... I’m only 24. What am I entitled too?

My wife recently had a slip & fall and has a diagnosed concussion (mild) she has been suffering with terrible headaches and pain in her neck.
She doesn't like noise, and feels generally unwell.
The accident was caused by slipping and then she hit her head, the management accept liability and their insurer offered her compensation of $12,000 cad.
She does not know whether to accept the offer.
Are there any experienced insurers or anybody that would know if it is a fair offer.
There were no other injuries aside from the bang on the head.
She had a ct which was normal but she is not the same person and is much weaker.
So does anybody know in view of what i have written here, whether $12,000 is fair?

Management had failed to put salt on the ice, that's why she slipped.

The job I am currently at does not provide health insurance. I am looking for some sort of health insurance for me and my husband that does not have a deductible. I am not the leading expert on these kind of things so I'm not even sure private insurance has plans with no deductibles. My old job offered monthly premiums and all I had to pay was a copay when I visited the doctor. But now that I am researching this stuff online I can only find plans with deductibles. We hardly ever see the doctor so we need a very simple plan that allows us to pay a monthly premium and then the doctors office copay.
Does anyone have any information that you feel would be useful to me. Any help would be appreciated!

I was wrongfully termed from my job on 3/2/07 and have yet rec'd anything regarding COBRA insurance or any termination paperwork. Is this legal for the company to not do either of this?
Thanks

My wife (a teacher) recently started a new job and joined a group health plan. Before she started, she had health insurance continuously with her parents right up until the time she started as a teacher.

But the insurer denied benefits for a recent doctor's visit, citing the preexisting condition clause. When we told the insurer about the other coverage, they said "they don't do that." Is this illegal under HIPPA?

My husband broke a bone in his hand and has to have surgery to fix it. We don't have insurance and no doctors accept payment plans. His income is to high for any kind of gov. aid and it cost $3,500. We were told he has to pay this all up front next week. Any ideas (besides asking for a loan) would be great. By the way we don't live in the county for the free hospital so that is out too. Thanks!

My 19 yr old son had a job threw a temp agency,
a co worker and my son were carrying a heavy pipe, the coworker droped it and my son;s middle finger bone was spilt.
the temp service paid for him to go to the doctor.
he possiably has to have surgey. Mind you this happened at the work place while working.
my son and the co worker got into a fight (pushing) each other Not at work over what happened.
he didnt use his hand to push back.
the temp agency said my son has to pay all of his medical bills even though his finger was injured at work.
Then they said he could go back to work.
my son doesnt has money to pay for the injurys that occurred at work. does anyone know if the temp agency can stop paying his medical bills? isnt this against the law?

i am about to take up health insurance but i am not sure how it works

I recently contacted the BLF and they said that i have classic symtoms of Bronchiectasis, results from a chest x-ray revealed nothing and my doctor will not refer me to a chest physician because of this.

If i do a CT Scan for my lungs privately will my new Health Insurance cover the cost ?

I work for a small business. An employee quit (without two weeks notice) to go work for another company. The day he quit we told him about his options as far as keeping insurance coverage through Cobra. He came in the following Friday wanting to sign the paperwork saying he rejects it because he was getting put on the new company's insurance right away (the first of the month). He was covered with us until the end of March. On the 30th of March, we get a call that he was in an accident, serious. My question is, what responsibility do we have? His family is claiming that he has 30 days to decide about Cobra (even though he'd already signed the paperwork denying it). His problem is that he has only worked for the new company for a little over a week and now cannot work and will probably be let go, thusly losing his insurance. I have a call into the insurance comminsioner's office, but just wondered if anyone had any input. Thanks.

First of all, I am twenty years old, and currently living at college. I have finally (after several days of debating) decided that I need to go to the hospital. I am either pregnant, or some other reasons for me being nausous and throwing up all the time. Either way, I need to see someone about this.

I am covered by my parents insurance, but if it comes out that I am pregnant, will that automatically show up on my parents' insurance statement? i.e, what I was seen for, and that prenatals were prescribed.

I know I need to tell them if I am, but they would be very upset and dissappointed by the fact that I'm sexually active, and I need to be able to tell them in person rather than them finding out second hand.

Any information about this would be very appreciated

Thanks in advance.
