My Mother passed away and appointed a friend to handle her estate......just don't know what to pay her,,,,

At the very least her expense should be paid. Gasoline, postage, etc. If possible you should make some consideration for the time involved as well. It really isn't fair to ask someone to work for free even if it is a good friend. They can refuse the payments if they wish to do so.

I have never heard of paying an executor when it is a personal friend or family member. And, I would never accept money for doing that for a friend or family member, either. I suggest being open about it and talking to your mother's friend about it directly to see how she feels. She probably feels the same way.

If there isn't much involved, there;s no real property, and if she truly is a friend, nothing.

But that's a matter that should be discussed between the executor and administrator.

Call an accountant in the phone book, and ask what they'd charge.
