i'm an 18 year old college student wanting to start to build credit.

i have an account opened up with washington mutual. im using their debit card.

I'm guessing how it works to build credit is I apply for a credit card, use it, pay monthly on time and thats it?

im new to this credit building world.

also, my friend is trying to do the same thing and says many cards (especially since we're college students) offer many promotions. so what should i look into? i heard long time low interest rates and...? maybe miles? etc?

My current major is Advertising with a minor in Public Relations. I am very creative. I love to design!. Weather it's computers aided design, interior design, logos/signs. I love love love it. I'm not really into numbers so I don't think I would really want to go in to Marketing. Over all which one would provide the most fufilling career? Marketing or Advertising, and why?

Hi, this is probably a dummy question. I am thinking to pay more each month for my mortgage. So my question is that will the extra prepayment go to the principal or the interest? If I pay more, will I get more tax deduction or less?

Thanks.

I worked for a temp agency for the 3rd largest food distributor in the U.S.

After three months of working there, the "Company" wanted to hire me as thier employee. They sent me to have a physical and drug test, I passed the drug test but not the physical, doctor put me on lifting restrictions. Get a call that I no longer have a job and good luck.

I'm guessing it's some type of marketing and/or public relations firm, but that's about all I know...

And I tried going to their site (CTCMarketing.com), but I guess it's under construction because it only has I guess their logo on the front page and that's it - no links elsewhere...

So, if anyone can help me out, it'd be greatly appreciated!

I guess what i'm saying is What companies hire on the spot but at the same time value skills other than SPEAKING?. call centers want vibrant people with speaking skills. I'm not that kind of person. and i've been struggling with my job search because of my limited speaking skills.

i have skills but none of them are Professional, just average skill

My skills are
-computers(mac, pc)
-computers graphics
-a bit of understanding of cmputers( did some programming study before but nothing that g reat, i did make some games
-I'm an average artist using pencil and color pencils and i have lots of ideas
-i have some musical talent but not that much
-i speak english, spanish and Japanese.. but none of them to a high level
-im good at problem solving
-i m pretty well rounded knowledge. i've studied about cultures
-i'm patient

Anywyas, none of that is useful to any Call centers or receptionist or administrative assistant just because i'm not a speaker and i'm shy. So who can possibly accept me?

I'm getting better at not procrastinating, but there are some things that just agonize me, i.e. doing reports for clients or grunt work. How do I get myself motivated to do this stuff?

To save on my US tax return
If I invest say 4000 in IRA now, than I get a deduction of same amount in my tax returns. So effectively as per my tax bracket I save {15% federal and 6% state tax = 21% total saving which will be around $800 savings}..

Now assume I go back to my country and break the IRA in some year when my USA income is zero. So I pay no income tax since I will fall under the limit of {standard deduction + exemption}.
The only thing I pay is 10% penalty which will be around $400.

So effectively I saved $800 - $400 = $400 by investing in to IRA and breaking it when going back.

So my question is that is this calculation correct ?? or
I will not save this amount ??

Pls advice. ??

i often ponder. I'm 27 unemployed and although i keep having interviews, i always fail to impress employers and thus remain jobless. I keep hearing that people with a college Education earn more than those who didn't have one. That's pure BALONY. It's only the ones who start off being outgoing and talkative, that succeed. Anyway, any tips on how to improve my chances of getting hired?

I keep trying, i study books on how to speak better.. But my brain doesn't seem to change. Employers want peole who have this personality that i don't have.

I will be receiving a number of financial gifts over the next few years and am wondering if a gift given today (or in Feb/March?) would still be eligible for the 2006 tax year.

Much as with an IRA you can contribute money in early 2007 to reduce your 2006 income, can you use this same strategy for financial gifts?...have a gift of $10,000 today be counted towards that person's gift limit to me for 2006?
