I don't know anything about a second mortgage and want to know if it's the right thiing for my husband and I to do. We have a house in a skyrocketing market and would like to put down hardwood flooring and remodel the kitchen. Is this a good way for us to finance the project? What are the pros and cons I should be aware of?

I'm trying to find the annual payment for a $300 million loan compounded annually at 10% over 30 years. When I use the Excel payment function I get $31,823,774.48, but when I use my BA II Plus (set with C/Y to 1 and P/Y to 1) with N=30, I/Y=10, and PV=300,000,000 it gives me $31,826,138.14. I can't understand why there is a ~$2,400 difference. I know it's not end of year/beginning of year discrepancy, because that difference would be a lot more. If anyone can help me figure this out I'd appreciate it very much - there will be times in finance class when I can't use Excel!!

I've given my nephew 4 months notice that I am trying to sell my home and that he needs to find another place to live as soon as possible. He's done nothing that indicate he's even trying to move out. Do I need to worry about legalities if I just kick him out and put his stuff out on the lawn? BTW, he's 28 years old.

My boyfriend and I are both in the military. He recently got change of duty station orders, and he has to relocate. We live in an apartment and signed one lease. The apartment management is saying that he can leave, but I must stay since we are not married and I do not have orders to relocate, or we must pay to break the lease if I leave with him. According to the Service Members' Civil Relief Act, they must let the dependents leave as well without penalty. I spoke with JAG (military lawyer) on this issue, and he said even though we are not married, I qualify as his dependent since we have lived together and shared living expenses for over 180 days. For anyone who knows about law, or the Service Members' Civil Relief Act, is the 180 day thing true? Do I qualify as his dependent? Any links to websites with this info would also be helpful. Thanks!!

A little history:
I worked for "Company A" for 5.5 years, at which time, it was acquired by "Company B", and the name was changed to match that of "Company B."

Soon, "Company B" wanted to move everything to another state (which I checked out, but didn't like), so I went to work for a competitor at "Company C."

I worked at "Company C" for 2.5 years, when "Company B" came around and bought us! The name of "Company C" was changed to reflect the fact we were now "Company B", and my time was merged to show 8 years of service with "Company B."

Eventually, they wanted us to move again. Knowing I didn't want to live there, I went off and found a job at "Company D", in an entirely different industry.

Back over at "Company B", they've since changed their name to "Company E", so everyone now knows them as such.

Now, how in the heck do I reflect this on my resume', when all HR records are under "Company E", but the names have changed over the years?

take over the inventory (if it is sold to me by this company) and given money from the accounts recieveables to start this new company, and take over the branding of these products? Then the old company could file bankruptcy and get out of some of it's debt. I don't own any of the old company so I would not be liable for any of it's debt. What do you think?

I bought a house about a year ago and I just recieved a form from the bank stating the amount of interest paid for the year. I found out that the bank is virtually reping us up. The interest taken for the year is five times the amount that goes towards the loan it self. Do you recieve anything back from this when filling taxes, or is there any way to go about it to reduce that big cake taken by the bank for no good reason?
