Is it anywhere said that you can not switch from calculating gains/losses using Realized gains/losses and then switching to Unrealized gains WITHOUT re-computing the basis?

Textbooks, IRS code, FASB, anything? A specific source would be very helpful.

Thanks

I have already been pre approved, picked out my options at the design studio and am waiting for my pre-construction appointment. The sales agent told me they should have it ready by june but I have heard of other people building homes and being given a quote and it actually being about 2 months after "due date". Anyone that knows anything, please help!

What is the average cost of installing a stand up shower in a bathroom that does not previously have one. We are buying a house soon and want to know the cost difference between having one already in the house or installing a brand new one later in a house we like that has no stand up showers.

My husband has a few school loans that they have been taking his tax refund the last few years for. This past year we got married so now we'll be filing jointly. Can they still take the refund with both being on the refund? Or should we file married seperately so they can't take mine?

I think I really missed my calling in life. Over the last several years, I have picked up quite a bit of knowledge of how to manage my own investments and plan for retirement, and I find it all incredibly interesting.

So how does one go about becoming a financial planner? I don't really want to manage people's money so much as help them develop a good plan based on their circumstances and goals, and maybe recommend some good investments for them to achieve those goals.

Does one have to take certain courses? Do you have to do a lot of cold calling to get clients? Any background info or good web sites would be great!

I need help, what kind of jobs do you recommend for a 16year old--who doesn't want to work in a regular fast food joint.
What about Barnes&Nobles, or something else like that?

my question is do I have any entitlement to this house as my name is not on the title. Though this house has had a major turn around since I moved in.
Before I lived here his mom lived in it and it was a total pigstye, i mean dog crap, cat crap on the floor, piss in the rugs, flies, dirt even black mold.
You name it, I have pictures to prove what this house looked like before I moved in it.
Now it looks like a million bucks compared to what is was before. I believe I have been the motivating factor in getting him to make his house 100x better, but he tells me this is not my house in a fight but when we are getting along he says its "our" house.
My only proof of living here for the last 3 years is the taxes( I filed with him) and the phone bill which is in my name and any mail I get sent here.
I have also been the only person to help (not even his friends) with the renovation. we are breaking up and I dont want to walk away broke as I helped him turnthishousearoundforthelast3 y

I am a small business just starting out and am interested in finding a good accountant in Brooklyn,NY. I am looking for someone who knows the rules well enough to advise me how to maximize my deductions while still keeping it all legal. Most accountants I have met are either not very knowledgeable (I feel like I knew more then them) or are so concervative that they choose to be extra cautious even though law would allow more flexibility.
