If you invent something that ends up being extraordinary popular, like EVERYONE buys one, how much money can it you? Like, a product that everyone in America buys. Can it make you over 20 mil?

I dont know if you have ever seen the little pringle tubs. A while ago, some small plastic tubs were introduced that held about 15 pringles, used for school lunches etc. The guy sold his idea to Pringles and recieved a percentage of there sales increase. He is now a multi-billionaire.
Two guys went to a match company, claiming that if they were paid 5 million, they would share an idea that would increase the profit of the company consiberably, and they would make their money back literally overnight. All they said was to put the striking patch on only one side of the match box, whereas before there was one on each side. The company saved millions, and the guys are now millionaires.
Another example, recently you may have heard of the milliondollarwebpage, the guy sold pixels on his site at £10 a pixel. It cost him nothing, yet he is now a millionaire.
It just takes one small idea.

If you invent a flying car, you will make billions
If you invent a special drink and a super burger, you can sell them on the street corner and make a living at it
If you invent a pen with a flashing light on top of it, probably you will make nothing
So go for the flying car !

I'm totally late answering this lol. But you know those little plastic pieces on the ends of cat5 cables? The guy who invented those gets a check in the mail every week for $ 80,000

You will make the most money by building a company around a product. $20M for founders is very possible (but with a lot of hard work ;).
