My husband made in gross pay $40080.00 this year and in net pay it says $30606.12. I dont work and we have a 4 year old . federal only took out $1397.00 social security took out $2484.97 and medicare took $581.00.Does anybody know if i should expect a tax refund this year or not?this is for the whole year.I tried using taxcut but i got all confused can anybody help?

I'm single, self-employed, doubtful and scared of audit if I claim a home office, travel a lot for work (car, plane, hotels), have to eat on the road a lot, but usually alone, have a 401(k), member of professional associations, medium credit card debt, minor bits of work equipment, moving from Los Angeles to New York this year.

I welcome general hints but especially interested in links to more complete resources.

The past year has been rough, for many of us at work. The "higher ups" have very bad attituides, and thus it affects all of us. As the new year is beginning, I am trying to find ways to create a positive and healthy work environment for myself. Others just don't get it. A friend of mine noticed that her paycheck is missing money and her company owes her not only for the raise she was promised, but money she is already supposed to be getting... it is a substantial amount of money that she should is owed. She already had to really fight for the raise she was promised. Now that it is the end of the year, she realizes that she is owed at least 10k not including the raise... what rights does she have in trying to get the money is owed to her?

I am getting ready to build a new home for $136,000. I'm going to put down 20% as the down payment. So, instead of a loan for $136,000 would the loan actually be $108,800 and thus my house payment would be based off of the lesser amount; right?

are prepaid cards good? They're like gift cards but they're for everyday use. I cant have a checking account (and apparently you need one to get even a debit card) and this just seems easy.
