I am working on a project (One Penny Project) that involves finding a penny and then doubling that penny. Continue the process until ... well you get the idea.

Other then the obvious (parking lot, laundromat, outsite stores, near swings) what are the best places to look for change.

I’m not a smoker or anything, but I feel that they reasons they give for raising taxes on cigarettes would work on beer.

Examples:
It would stop kids from developing bad habits.
It would create extra funds for schools.
It would better for current users’ health

I also wonder they there aren’t big TV commercials like “The Truth” (that bash smoking) for beer. I never hear about anybody (like M.A.D.D.) trying to make a movement like this.

What in your opinion is a good job for a shy person to get? And I don't mean a "career". Just a regular full-time or part-time job.

Or to put it in another way, what jobs wouldn't require an outgoing personality?

My husband started a lascaping/pool job 3 months ago. At the time it was actually a blessing. He was getting paid $10/hr with partnership with his boss only 3 days per week.
His boss soon left to go to the UK to handle personal matters, and left my husband to care for the whole business. Even thought my husband worked alone hes till got payed the same $10/hr (and of course taxes). Now it's a couple months later.
My husband was getting $200 a week and we complained to his boss that we can't not afford it...
My husnand and I were immediately looking for a new job. His boss then told him he could work 4-5 days a week in order to make more income. We decided it's ok..so now hes still working caring for the whole business on his own. There are about 85 houses worth about $70 each, a hotel which is $600. He seems to be making great income. Is he taking advantage? Shouldn't he pay my husband more? I feel very frustarted, but perhaps I am wrong. I have 3 children to feed!

I'm used to online purchasing but it's quite distressing most stores couldn't provide instant validation of billing address entered on checkout page with the issuing bank billing record. They usually have to call to reconfirm billing infirmation if typographical error is detected, which i actually find unprofessional and somehow unsecured. Can anyone pls notify me of any online store (especially UK stores) providing instant billing address validation with the banks record on checkout.

I know good and bad is mostly relative to something else. In this instance my peer group. I have 982,000 in assets and 771,000 in liabilities giving me a net worth of 210,000.00. Is this good or bad for my age?

I missed a job interview for this morning that I scheduled while I was out of town. It occurred to me about an hour after the appointment time. The prospective employer had my home and cell phone numbers, but only called my cell. I've already called and left a message, apologing profusely?

That was about 40 minutes ago; what more can I do?

If they are interested enough to reschedule me, how do I get past this faux pas and have a successful meeting?

I admit to being preoccupied (death in the family over the holidays, stressing out behind having to fly through Denver to make it home for interview), but I'm usually more on top of my game than this.

Serious replies only...I've already beat myself up behind this.

I want to take my wife on a "honeymoon" (since we didn't really get a real one) to Hawaii but want to save up enough for us to have fun. I work for an airline so airfare won't be too high but hotel, food, and rental car are in question. We want to have fun, possibly go in March. We're not into the snorkeling or scuba diving so that won't be an expense but we enjoy the beach and sun. What's an amount to aim for over the next couple months?

I'm new to real estate, and am thinking of getting into it more, but I still don't have any formal background. I was wondering if there's a well known direct relationship between real estate prices (both residential and commercial) and the strenght of the dollar versus foreign currency.

It would seem that as the dollar weakens, property values should rise. A weakening dollar basically causes inflation relative to other currencies. In order to keep the real value of property in the US steady (it should vary independently from US currency), housing prices should rise (in dollars).

Is my thinking above true? Or do many of the same factors that affect the dollar on a global basis also get applied to investment in US property?

Anyone with real estate or macroeconomic experience have knowledge about this? I'll definitely vote and give points for the best answer, and sources or qualifications are appreciated.

I am a self employed person so I don't have medical benefits like you would if you work for a company. I am paying well over $600 a month for medical insurance coverage as a business owner. Does anyone know of a program or something that offers cheaper insurance to business owners?

I'm actively trading some stocks through a personal account with an online brokerage, however, in the next few years I might cash out those stocks and buy into a mutual fund. Are there steps I can take now to limit my exposure to future taxes based on my plan? Steps such as purchasing the stocks through a specific type of account, retirement or some other type? I'm not familiar with taxes, so bear with me.
