In the US employers have until January 31 to mail your W-2.

Then they have until February 28 to mail the copies to the Social Security Administration.

The IRS/SSA will not do anything to an employer as long as the copies are mailed by February 28. Most employers obey the law and get your copies in the mail by the end of January.

Happy New Year

Your employer is supposed to give you your W-2 form, no after January 31st, that is the deadline, but some employers could give it to your earlier.
