I'm looking into moving there and I'm currently searching for employment there so I would like to know if I can obtain a P.O. Box there so I can issue that as my address.

You usually have to be a resident to get a USPS post office box, but if there is a Mail Boxes Etc. in the city or town you are moving to, they rent small to large mail boxes that can be used as an address. You can put that address on your letterhead or resume.

I'm not sure how far from the PO box you can live and still rent one from the post office. You should be able to find out from your local post office whether that is a possibility.

Another option is a private mail service. With those that I've heard of, you can rent a box or have the mail forwarded automatically. Often they will give you a more permanent sounding address which might be better for an employment search.

Try a yellow pages search for the city you are interested in. Yahoo classifies them under:

Top > Other Professional Services > Shipping > Mail Services > All Other Mail Services

Good luck.

I don't think so. I believe you have to have a physical address in order for the Post Office to rent you a box. You might be able to rent a private mail box from UPS or Mailboxes USA, or one of those businesses.

I had the same situation- I lived in TX and was staying in an RV park in Maryland for the summer. I could not get a PO Box because I didn't have a Maryland driver's license.

usps.com says you have to apply for the box in person, but i didn't read anything about having to live in the same state as the box.
