Is there a different tax rate for bonuses? If so, how do I find out what it is? Why does the employer have to consider is a "bonus" rather than just cutting another payroll check?

My friend has been working for over a month and he hasn't been paid yet. Apparently a manager forgot to include him in the payroll, so no the human resosurces want him to wait over the holidays so they can start his process apeal.

Is there any laws that protect him, or can he call anyone else?

It seems like so many manufacturers are moving overseas. Do you think Wal-Mart demanding lower prices from their vendors is the reason? Also, I hear so many people say how much they dislike Wal-Mart for so many reasons. Do you think they hurt small, locally owned businesses in their markets?

My grandmother (65) and Grandfather (63) have AARP Life Insurance, and Medicare, and looking for someone to have Secondary Health Insurance with. Would it be best to have it with AARP since they have Life Insurance with them? Or should they get it from someone else for cheaper? We live in TX

I have signed a contract with the seller and have given a thousand dollars to the title company. Everything is going well and we're ready to close in a month. Are there other reasons? What are the main factors that affect Bond prices? I'm still trying to figure out the bond market. A substantial portion of my 401K is in a bond fund, and it's been doing terribly this year. I thought bonds were supposed to be a safe haven from the volatility of the market, but they seem to be just as risky, or more, than small-caps or emerging markets.
