He has worked for the same company for close to 30 years, but to "young" to qualify for retirement. His health insurance has not covered much of the bills to date and he has been going through this for close to a year. He was receiving half of his pay through a company disability program but that is gone. He has gone through the 3 months of salary that it is recommended we all save. He is also worried that if and when he can go back to work will he still have a job, FMLA ran out a long time ago.
I have found resources for people that are ill and have a family, but I guess if you are single person and have worked hard your whole life and saved as advised your just SOL. Meanwhile, the medical bills pile up while you are just trying to keep a roof over your head and the heat on. Something has got to be done in this country about health care. NO one should have to become bankrupt to stay alive, and still have a little dignity left.

My landlord has been acting really inappropriately towards me lately, like making excuses to come by my apartment late at night when none of the other neighbors are around just to "check" to see if everything's going okay, or to make sure I paid my rent (which I always do on time), and then hitting on me and telling me how cute I am, and generally making me uncomfortable. I'm the only tenant he does this to. I never allow him into my apartment during these times, but I would like to have another lock on my door because it makes me nervous that he has keys to my place and is acting this way towards me. Can I legally add an additional lock to my apartment door? I can't move right now, but I also cannot live in a place where I don't feel safe because of the landlord. I'm not going to answer my door anymore late at night, but there has got to be something else I can do to ensure my safety. My landlord also lives across town which makes these late night visits even more suspicious.

I've just had a phone call from a gf who has seen an advert for a clerical assistant in a school.

The job description says she would be required to input information using SIMS.

Anyone out there know what SIMS is, in an office?

I repeat, this is NOT the SIMS family many of you know and love to play with!!!

Hi, I am really in a financial bind, right now. I seriously live from paycheck to paycheck. And every check I absolutely have nothing to save out of it. Anyhow, I was offered a job at another firm, and there willing to pay $2.50 more than what I'm making now? It's basically doing the same thing I'm doing here, with maybe just a tad bit more responsibility.

What should I do?

This is just an example i guess? If I was to buy something that cost $150...should I pay that $150 all at once, or should I make monthly payments....I've heard different things...I've heard that I should make monthly payments to show them that I actually can pay payments? and I've heard that I should pay the $150 all at once? If any one can help thanks

Employees, from your employer, would you rather have

1. A bonus (and working normal business hours/days)
2. Paid time off (not counting against your vacation time) during the holiday season?

Which one?

Hi,

I have saved some money, and I could buy a little mobile home... and I am wondering if this is a good idea or not.

Please help me.

Are mobile homes only for poor people?
Is it dangerous to live in a mobile home (I'm a young female)?
Is it really a smart idea financially to buy a mobile home and pay a lot rent (about $200 or $300/month) instead of renting a place for about $500/month?

Thank you in advance.

I've been currently working my postion for over a year. I've recieved three raises. That's fine, but i want a higher position now. Unfortunatley in my department the higher positions have already been filled. Since I didn't see any oppurtunities for increase in my department I volunteered to help start another, by being hands on in the training as well as the work. That was a success but now since that department has been started I am no longer needed there. I now have the option to stay in my original position or take a demotion to the new one. Should I stay in my original position or should i take the lower pay scale and hope for a management postion to post?

I understand a little about how AD&D works (for example, if you lose a leg you get x% of your benefit), but who is it for? If I have Life and Medical Insurance, am a white collar worker, and do not engage in dangerous hobbies, why would I need it? By the same token, why not get AD&D instead of Life insurance (since the AD&D plan I looked at had a death benefit)? AD&D seems like a waste of money (of course I've just jinxed myself). Can someone please enlighten me?...

why are companies doing it? The clothing made here can be on store shelves in 2-4 weeks. It can take months from China. Data entry jobs can lead to Americans information being stolen i.e. more problems. Foreign companies are opening plants here and booming. Why are American companies so stupid? Is it just poor management?

I don't see why I can't. I only make 7.75 an hour. It's not like I'm making so much money that I should pay taxes. I don't think it's fare that I have to pay taxes. My paycheck looks so small when compared to what I could have if I didnt pay tax.

I had a bad transaction on ebay and this jerk owes me almost $300. It was something that I bought and it was not as described, so I sent it back and he promised a refund. Months later and I am still waiting. The problem is that it is too far along for ebay/Paypal to do anything about it. All emails to this prick are unreturned. What can I do? Anything???
