I find it difficult to decide in this case, due to the price difference.

An apartment is under offer with the "5% deposit paid" incentive. This is attractive to me, however, at the same time, I notice there is another 3-bed house nearby (they are one postcode away). This house's price is around 15,000 higher than that of the apartment.

This extra amount is big for me. But on the other hand, a house seems a better investment than an apartment. So I'm getting confused.

If you were me, which factors will you consider so that you can decide?

I was advised not to talk in other departments, but see people right next to me talking in other departments all the time, and they havent even been talked to. I will say that I would never go out of my way to say anything rude to anyone, so I know I did not say anything mean.

One of my examples is that I was at a sink putting some water in a bucket, and I spoke to another employee and tolod him I was ver familiar with the software program he had up on the computer screen near the sink. we were both from a different dept, and just happen to speak for about 1 minute about the software and label printer he was using, becuase it seemed he was not very quick with the software, and I was trying to be kind, I went back to my desk and my Sup. said I was talikg in a different dept, I explained that it was someonefrom our dept that I was speaking to, and I got in trouble, but he did'n

it was in 4 mos started leaking, we had the largest and well known company come out with us, they stated it was a manufacture defect, we paid and had them fix out of our pocket, we were told we did not have to do this, it should have been sent back to california and they should have replaced this boiler, and paid for our labor to reinstall. We want to know if that is correct, and if so can we have any way to recoup our expense.

First of all, which cash flow do you use to calcualte the discount cash flow? Is it net cash flow, free cash flow, or operating cash flow?

Secondly, what is an appropriate discount rate to use in calculating discount cash flows? Is it the 30-year bond yield or short term bond yield?

Thank you all

I live abroad and work with US firms paying me in private checks drawn from US banks. A few days after depositing each check, my bank pays me for it. However, I was told by my bank that a check can actually clear in the US bank from a few days after being sent to the US bank, to up to 5 years from issue(!!!), this means that a check can bounce even a few years after issue, in which case the sum i was paid would be taken out of my account, plus %interest. Can it be that international banking is so inefficient that my bank doesn't get acknowledged that the check was cleared, and the check can "stay in limbo" for years? Should i really worry for years, or a few months after depositing - i should be safe?
(To all those who answered my prev Q: Thanks! Your answers helped me ask my bank the right questions, and limit the unknown to this question only.)
