can anyone help me out here, i am a good painter and decorator but finding it harder and harder to get work and decent prices in london, and have been offered work in belfast as the rates are meant to be good and they can,t get decent trades men out there, can anyone shed some light on this for me, cheers

I lived in Belfast for many years and can tell you that attitudes to Englishmen have definitely softened over the last few years so have no worries. You will find that Belfast people are much, much friendlier than the average Londoner. If you are a decent tradesman you will get work there and painting jobs are well paid.

Belfast is experiencing a building boom, so I am sure there is sufficient work here.
On the downside is the fact that not being from here you would be considered a 'blow-in"
Also on the downside is religous and ethnetic intolerance, which unfortunately is still going on. I saw on the local news that Latvians were singled out, and had their house damaged., and the Chinese were not very lucky either. ITS VERY SAD

you may get work but will have to be careful were you work being english , also the wage's are a lot lot lower over here but so is the cost of living
