I am a guy who is 31. I graduated from college ten years ago with honors from a major university. But I have failed on many jobs because I am unable to figure out the job. It has worn on me mentally. I can't seem to stay in a job very long because i can't comprehend the concepts required to do the job. I was a political science and history graduate. The latest job I failed in was a difficult and technical state job that dealt with public assistance. Alot of technical computer training involved. Also alot of policy and law to understand. This has happened to me over and over and over. How long did it take you to find a job that you could be competent in?

In my last two positions I was unable to do so because my new employer needed me to almost immediately. How would you tell a new employer that you can't start for two weeks? Do most understand? I don't want to leave a third job without notice, because even though I have an excellent work record, I am rendered "unhireable" because I don't give proper notice, and that looks bad when new employers check employer references.

Could someone find me a lawyer locally (zip code:95835). I want to rent out my home and want to know if I am legally doing what I need to. I would like to speak with a lawyer directly. Also, if you could let me know their office hours, it would be appreciated.

I am submitting an Amended tax return 1040-X for 2002 (I filed late so it's OK until Oct 15). I see now that in 2001 I failed to record on Schedule D some carry-forward short-term capital losses, and therefore did not offset my 2002 capital gains in the next year in that return.

Can I now enter those 2001 carry-forward losses on my amended 2002 form? (As the total carryover was around $7,000, this would have implications for my 2003 and 2004 returns as well, which I could now also amend.)

I have never had anyone come out and see for sure, but I have found a baseboard that was eaten away. The footer behind it is solid as steel however. I also found what I THOUGHT was a crack that turned out to be a path eaten through the PAPER on the sheetrock. In the process of remodeling, I have checked studs etc and everything seems solid. IF this is termites, but damage is not severe, what is a reasonable discount to give the potential buyer as compensation? Should I knock 5k off the price? Similar homes are selling between 88,000 and 98,000. I have installed new carpet, laminate floors, ceramic tile, 2 complete bathroom replacement. Will the upgrades and improvements offset the extermination process? Should I just stick with market value?
