I hate my job. Actually to be fair, its not my job, it's the people. I know in whatever field I am in, there is always office politics, but I've become so jaded and lack so little motivation in my job. The people are witches (the rhyming word is what I am refering to). The communication sucks, and the woman are unbearable. It is never fair at work. It's like if it is the right thing to do they do the complete opposite. Also, if you are of lower rank, automatically you get no respect. I know it isn't just me this happens to, but I am fed up and at times I just want to quit. How do you cope in these types of situations?

I am looking to get my boss and the owner of my company a thank you gift, but I have no idea where to start and what would be appropriate. Any suggestion on good places to start?

Thanks

Sits near you...but you can't see them. However, whenever you get off of a phone call--they come ask you questions about things you were talking about on the phone. I deal with alot of business proposals and media inquiries. Most of my convo's are propietary and confidential.

If I buy Vanguard 500 Index fund. Since, the 500 index does not change very often. So, the stocks in that index fund will not be sold. Right?

In this case, there will not be any capital gains. Am I right? So, the only gains I have are going to be dividend gains by those stocks.

If my understanding above is correct, then this fund is very good from tax perspective. I will only be paying taxes on dividends by companies and will almost very less capital gains.

Please help me understand if my theory above is correct.

I really appriciate all the help I am getting here.

Hi, I hope you guys might be able to help me out here. I've been self-employed since July 2005 and I believe that this year I will have to complete my first self-assessment. I am definitely going to get an accountant involved, but due to the cost outlay (and the fact I'm quite skint at the moment) I would prefer to leave it for a couple of months. Could anyone tell me when the self-assessment form is due and how I get it? (is it sent to me?) Also, is it pretty straightforward to fill in? And when do I actually pay the tax - do I send a cheque with it or will I be billed for it?

Many Thanks In Advance!

So when I try to run my credit, they ask me for my card no# and I can't get any farther than that. I want to get it online, not thru my bank.

Do you think it's better to inquire about a job opening and handing in a CV in person by going directly to a company or is it better to hand it in online?

Hi, I've recently been offered a high paying (upper middle class) job, located in downtown New Orleans. I'm unfamiliar with the area, especially post-Katrina. Where can I live within an hour's drive of downtown that offers the best safety and is relatively back to normal? I also have a wife who is a school teacher, so areas where the public schools are better would be helpful to me. NOLA historically has bad schools, and if I take this job it would be a very important consideration for us. Should she consider teaching in a parochial school? Should we live in Baton Rouge and just give me a long commute? Any recommendations are welcomed!

I'm not in a place to leave right now. My boss is a 100 year old asshole attorney who thinks the world owes him something. Such a mean man. I am miserable. He has a brand new corvette, I thought about keying it. Ha ha.
Anyone else in this position?
