If you did a bankruptcy and want a good credit card-that is not a secured one-I advise looking into credit unions and/or AARP credit cards first for a card that does not require you to agree to a binding mandatory arbitration clause. Then look for the one that has the best APR for you considering you will not be able to file a bankruptcy again for a few years. I made the mistake of getting credit cards that usually have binding mandatory arbitration clauses and that lets any card you still owe-force you into arbitration-who will get a judgment that can take away your assets if assets are not exempt or if the debt is not dischargeable in bankruptcy. I suggest not going to Chase, MBNA, American Express, Discover for credit cards. (Stay away from those because of their agreements.) Stay away from any that use the collections agencies: Wolpoff and Abramson, Mann Bracken LLC, or NCO Financial. After bankruptcy alot of cards will want your business-be very careful which one(s) you choose. Another thing you can do to improve the relations with credit bureaus is to be added onto a credit card account (such as a credit union account without any binding mandatory arbitration clauses.) Credit cards are not the only kind of borrowing that can improve your status with the bureaus. I have education loans and those are in good status because they are deferred while I am still in school or for certain kinds of hardships. Those can count as positive or neutral reports and can help your score. If you do borrow for education-only borrow what you need and can pay back as agreed. According to a bankruptcy lawyer I was told it's great for your reports when it shows "$0 balance" and "discharged in bankruptcy" as those are better than chargeoffs, delinquent accounts, and in collections agencies.

The website below has credit cards for all types of credit. If your score is lower than 650 try a bad credit credit card like Orchard Bank - if it is above 650 I would go with a Citi or Chase card - one of the ones with good rewards.

Actually saying that you declared 3 years ago .. I am surprised you have not received offers. Or considering that you are looking for a low APR with a banko on file that recent could be the issue. You could have to choose a card with an higher APR and after paying for 6 months ask to lower APR. and continue on that path until you re establish yourself ... wish you luck

I think the best thing to do is to go to a good bank. Probably a national one like the Bank of America or Chase. Explain your problem and tell them you want to begin rebuilding your credit. My bank is the Bank of America. I'm almost certain they will work with you, especially if you get a checking account with them and keep it up. They will trust you more.

Start with your bank, whichever bank you use for your paycheck and day-to-day banking. They will often have good rates, and will give you a better deal if you are a regular customer.
