I am starting my own online business. It is small, it will be run out of my house (in Los Angeles, CA), I will be the only person involved and I will be selling art pieces that I create myself. I have researched many websites including the tax franchise board, the IRS, the Small Business Association, but I find them all so overwhelming and confusing. Do I have to charge sales tax? Do I need a Federal Tax ID? Do I need a State Tax ID? Do I need a California Seller's Permit? I can't seem to find a place that narrows down the start-up requirements. Thanks!

My husband is making payments on this bill but we dont trust the debt collector. He only fell behind because my husband lost his job when he became ill and had to be hospitalized. It was over a year before he became well enough to work again. It was turned over to a collection agency and even though we have been making monthly payments they refuse to issue a receipt. I have a my own records of these transactions but I do not trust them at all! One thousand dollars is all we have left to pay on this note and we will be through if they let us continue to pay monthly. I dont know if they will.

I lost my Job this week. Was living paycheck to paycheck. I have blls monthly about $4K and Unemployment will pay me about $2K a month. I need an extra $2K a month. I can either cash out my 401K ( I no loner work there so I have to withdraw the full amount) of $68K . With taxes I will lose about $30K but the $38K will last me quite a while OR I can borrow about $12K from a home equity line ( Pay interest only) I currently am borrowing $26K on that at 8.25% . I may never be able to pay back that money so I am leaning to taking out the 401K and if get work quickey put back as much as I can into a IRA plan.

Any thoughts on this??

And then not follow through so you can look like an a** and get your temp assignment cut short? Especially after confiding how everyone at her last job hated her because she was beautiful/model? Especially knowing she'll be back in her position in a week and a half and that her boss likes her? I don't. But I will remember her name, Mwahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!

Ok, so about a year ago, my brother opened up an account with Dell Financial under my name. He never made any payments and I started getting calls around Christmas time last year regarding late payments and what not. I payed them what they had asked, and then it happened again after about 3 months when my brother said he would make payments. long story short, my brother has not made payments, I know it's something I need to work out with him in terms of payment, and I already have, however, the Dell account is at $1900 when the original purchase was about $1500, and i've already paid about $650. I told them the story about my brother opening it under my name without me knowing and offered to settle for $1200, which would still be $1850 total, so they'd still be getting a profit, but they wont accept it and continue harrassing me and calling 8 times a day. Is there anything else I can do or am I basically screwed?

Hi, My husband and I are moving to El Paso beginning of next year. We are interested in purchasing our first home. We have a credit score of about 630 (working fevorishly to improve before applying for a loan) He is a staffSGT in the Army and we have a total annual income of about 45k-50k. The homes we are looking at are priced between 150-185k. Will we qualify? Our cars are paid off and we have minimal debt. I am just terrified to even try. It seems so unattainable. Thanks.

We have been renting a house and paying $1900 a month and feel that we can continue to handle this amount in housing. However our income limits us to prequalify for 200K. The prequalification is based on standard formulas on real estate sites. We are looking for a house in the $300 to $360 range. Would a lender give us a second loan to cover the difference? We'll have about $15k in cash to work with as a downpayment / closing costs. If it makes a difference we are moving to New Orleans, LA. Any recommendations or assistance is appreciated.

I am in the middle of cleaning up my credit, with quite a ways to go before it looks decent again. Trust me, the lesson was learned, and learned very well!
I have a dilemma now. I need to rent an apartment by October 1st, and I know without a doubt that it is going to be difficult, to say the least, to be approved once they get a look at my credit report.
I will be able to pre-pay the first six months of a year lease, but will that make a difference to a management company?

As I said, I am slowly but surely getting my credit cleaned up, but it takes time.....meanwhile, I have this issue about not being approved for a rental.

Anyone think that the ability to prepay the first six months of the lease will make a difference?

Thanks......

I answered that way because in past experiences, at other other retail stores, I have been given cash, gift cards, merchandise, etc. Did I answer wrong? Is the key word "take" ? Help!! Can I explain my logic to them? I am scheduled for an interview.

Typically there is a 6 month holding period after a company IPO's, before pre-ipo investors and company employees are allowed to sell their shares of stock.
Are ex-employees subject to the same holding period ? (employees that left the company before the IPO, but own pre-ipo stock from exercising options when leaving the company)
