This It's NOT about living paycheck to paycheck, and struggling to put away money for retirement. It's NOT about spending most of your days away from your family and children. And it's NOT about working hard to make somebody else rich!

I would like to start my own business, not sure what yet. However, I have a great management/sales/customer service background. I would like to start out the business on week-ends and see how the profit and customer base stacks up. What is a good profitable week-end business for a woman with no or low investment and is not a scam? Are there any women out there who started like this and are now booming in profit and customer base?

Dear Mr./Ms. ________________

I recently retired from Honda after 25 years in the business. I wanted to thank you for your support over the years. I appreciate those of you who referred others to come and see me. Because of that, I had a very successful career.

I will now be assisting my son-in-law, (name), to get his new business off the ground as an American Family Insurance Agent. After considering several insurance agencies, (name) felt that American Family was the company in which he would be most proud to represent. Working at (car dealer) for over 16 years as a sales manager, he has always shared the same work ethic as I have, which has always been to work hard and treat clients with the utmost respect.

If you are in need of insurance (Life, Health, Auto, Home), please consider talking with (name). You may reach him at (phone number).

I'm in my late 20s and have had a long spell at 2 univesities, coming out with a 2:2 which thwarts my ambition to be rich and successful in my mind. I have only really done lowly sales jobs and seasonal type adventure jobs. Any ideas on how I can find a career that suits my need for mental stimulation/management/creativity and has great rewards?
I have great leadership and people skills, intelligent and creative.
I find job searches frustrating and can't seem to find the things that 'turn me on'.

Does it make sense for me to invest in a 401K in the US, given that I will probably move back to the UK in 3 to 5 years and, as I understand it, will not be able to transfer it to a UK equivalent without tax and penalties etc? My company already pays into a 401K but I'm not contributing at the moment.

Or would it make sense to keep not contributing and just stick it in a mutual fund?

I also have a UK pension with my employer (same employer) which is currently frozen and I assume I would continue on my return.

I hired a contractor to do a fire damaged duplex unit. He told me in the beginning that there would be no money out of pocket. I do not have full replacement cost coverage on my insurance. We agreed for the contract price, plus the supplement checks that come in. Now he is telling me that I owe for the deprecation as well. This was not our agreement. Do I have to pay this? No, it was not written in the contract. I want to also know if the 20% overhead & profit is built into this. He also has not completed this job and it has been going on for 8 months on a small duplex unit. Can I finish it myself and deduct this from the contract amount?
