In 2005, I made little, and paid little taxes. I didn't "expect to pay $1000 or more" on my 2006 tax return. This year I've made much more, but is it too late to begin quarterly payments? If I pay some taxes now, will they penalize me for not paying earlier? Don't I need to just pay at least as much as last year to avoid penalties? And can I do this with withholdings from checks I expect to receive? What about the self-employment taxes? Clearly I "expect to pay" more than $1,000...

I worked as an Acct/HR Mgr./AGM for five years and was laid off. I took 6 months off for personal reasons and I've been back working for the past 5 months. The problem is, I work temp jobs because I need the money, and most jobs will not hire me because I don't have the degree they want. So I started this temp-to-hire job a week ago *my 3rd one...and I hate it already. If anyone has been a temp, they know the feeling. I live outside of a large city and never anticipated that a 35 min. drive would take me well over an hour due to traffic. So I was late 6 minutes yesterday and 10 the day before and was threated that I would lose my job. I can't go to other interviews nor can I take any more time without pay, should I try to find something else and bite the bullet or continue to break the bank spending $20 a day in gas at a job I hate already? I feel like I'm royally screwed. Any advice? I'm not whining, I just can't find anything that is permenant.

Can you just take Series 6 only, or Series 7 only, or series 63 only and go for the exam (are the exams specific to each Series?), and be just limited to that particular knowledge of securities.?

I used to love my job but the tension has gotten crazy. My boss and his son are partners but the kid does nothing and expects me to jump whenever he says. I don't but here's the catch. We used to party, I am in recovery, and he hasn't been able to sober up so he treats me like **** and there is not much other than quit but I love his Dad and don't want to leave him in a bind. The kids friends are always coming around and trying to get me to go and do stuff and it's getting to where I hate to com in cuz I don't know who will be here and what I will be offered. Do I quit or just hang in there till the kid goes to jail?? He will soon he's on probation and they keep coming here to talk to him but he hides. Remember I used to love my job till he came back. So do I quit or stay????
