I paid the hotel in advance for my entire stay. When I asked them to revert back my authorization amount they say its not in there hand and I have to call my bank to remove authorization, which is not at all logical to me. I understand authorization amount is kind of security deposite so that no guest can cheat on them. Once paid the full amount for the duration of stay there is no need of such security amount. My hotel is denying to revert back the authorization amount so I want to understand how it works, what does USA laws says about it ? what are the remidial steps an international traveler can take in this case.

Has anybody ever come across quest international marketers? They advertise about a service they offer, allowing you to invest in them (QuestInternational) for a minimum of ~ USD 700. Then for every 2 new clients you find and spread the word to, you rcv ~usd200.00. They claim to do a lot of medal making for events involving gold. eg world cup, olympic medallions, beauty pageants, etc. But they say they never advertise themselves. But they offer thi service allowing you to invest for a very high payout. they seem legit, but has anyone ever come across any of those ppl? serious answers only!

I have numerous collectibles that I'd like to sell (a wide variety of things that I've had since I was a kid).

I refuse to sell on eBay again. The listing fees on eBay are relatively high and there's a lot of scamming going on with eBay these days.

I was thinking of holding a yard sale but I'm concerned that I won't attract the right sort of people - I won't be able to move these items for a decent price.

I've also considered CraigsList (with the same concerns as the yard sale). Then I found sell.com but I'm weary of the success rate.

I need a method that doesn't charge much by way of advertising/sellers fees.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to HOW I should go about selling collectible items? (eBay is NOT an option)
Should I try selling online? Which site should I use?
If I have a yardsale, how do I attract the buyers interested in collectibles?

Any tips would be appreciated - Thanks.

We have been renting a house for 5 years from my inlaws. We have a 3 year old daughter and would like something bigger. We have looked into renting something bigger, but it seems like the same price or cheaper to buy a home of our own. Should we go for it? We don't have anything saved but we can get family to help us out with the cost associated with buying a house. We also would both be commuting from where we live now so would be wasting time and money on gasoline. ARE there any special loans available for teachers? WE are working with a morgage broker now, what types of loans and interest rates should I be looking for? When I posted before I was told not to purchase a house more than 25% of my income, but we have been renting a house on one income that is near 50% of our income, and since we will be making more, I don't see why we cant have a morgage payment that is near 33% of our income?

I provided him with my bank's name, but told him I was uncomfortable giving out the routing number. He said not to be - that everyone's routing number is the same & that he didn't want my money ... I had "misunderstood" him. He said he got my name, address & telephone number (cell) from a purchase I had made with my checking account, but he didn't know which one. I ended up hanging up on him ... cause I usually don't get weird calls like that on my cell.

Anyone heard of this place? I'd like to know if they're legit - not because I want the stinking hotel vouchers, but because I want to make sure my account is protected.

A person loses a job through no fault of their own, and for the next year or so unfortunately can't find a new job no matter what they've done (and even though they have a college degree), as a result they run out of money and file bankruptcy.

Then they go to another interview and are rejected yet again, only this time because of their credit report, what can they do?

I know that identity theft victims and their resulting bad credit report is an exception and they will still be considered for the job.

But what about if the reason a person lost their last job was because of discrimination and wrongful termination, and that job loss put them back on a job search that should never have happened, because they should never have been discriminated against and wrongfully terminated?

If that person's credit was pretty good up until shortly after that incident, shouldn't they also be given an exception and be given another chance at the new job they applied for?

I went to an introduction to FOREX (foreign exchange) class recently and they were telling us how with a good education in FOREX you can consistently make money, and good money too, since you are trading 50 or 100 times what you have in your trading account. The complete course is $2000 and they were pushy for us to take the class so I didn't feel so confident about it, but i read up on the subject a bit and did a trial trade for about 30 days, I was up a lot at one point (about $8000) but in the end of the month i pretty muich broke even. WIth more knowledge and a proper education on the subject can it be a long term way of makin money?
