It's quality entertainment which, like almost anything, has the potential for abuse.

Alcohol, video games, pornography, marijuana, gambling... all are good in moderation but bad when they assume too large a role in your life.

The Bible doesn't say "Thou shalt not gamble". But it's pretty clear that money is to be used wisely, to care for our families, as well as other needs. Money is also to be used to help those who are poor and incapable of taking care of themselves. The disciples were known to have jobs to support themselves, so as not to always be sponging off of others, wearing out their welcome. When you gamble, you're wasting money that could be used for better things. Think about this...there are more poor people gambling (playing lotto, cards, and going to the casinos) than rich people, which tells me that rich people know better than to waste all their money on gambling than most poor people do. I know several people who spend more money on lotto tickets every week than they do on their groceries, yet they never win. It just makes poor people poorer. When it gets down to it, gambling is just plain selfishness, which IS a sin because that lead to greed and a whole bunch of other problems. It's best to just save your money and pay off your bills faster, or put it in a savings account. It will definitely grow faster than your chances at winning the lottery. <*)))><

If you understand the games and how the house makes their cut of the wager, gambling can be a fun past time. You should know that most all types of wagering favors the house and any type of long term play must result in losses.

I think horse race gambling is extremely enjoyable as long as you:
1. Know the odds on the wagers you place.
2. Make selections that will result in profits.
3. DO NOT wager more than you care to spend.
4. Above all, enjoy yourself while gambling and try to quit when you are ahead. :>

I live near 3 Casinos. I play the Slots on an average of twice a month. Within 6 years I've hit 3 jackpots, but not progressive jackpots. It's ok,as long as you know when to "Cash Out",take your winnings and leave. I never take more than $100.00 with me,and I always go alone. I use to take a friend with me,but that only makes you want to spend the money you've already won. (Funny thing though) "Old Folks" when big payouts all the time.
