Hair - November 2007

I have never dyed my hair and figured I would really try to grow old gracefully. With various shades in my hair naturally how could it even be duplicated?

I'm Hapa (Japanese and Black) so my hair is a combination of curly/straight/soft/wavy.

Growing up and even now Black friends and relatives always are like, "You've got a good grade of hair". What does that mean?

Are they saying my hair is better because it's more curly than kinky and I don't need a relaxer to straighten it?

If so, that seems like self-hatred to me.

I've Googled many sites, but of them had just one or 2 pictures and written instructions on how to do that hairstyle. I'm going to the hair salon tomorrow and want a nice hairstyle to show to my barber. Os there a very good website that just show PICTURES of hairstyles? I'd also to say thanks to anyone who tries to help.

I'm a 26 yo male...I don't know what's going on with me...but I noticed about 2 weeks ago while i was washing my hair that there was a good amount of hair in my hands...I've been using the same shampoo for 3 years..nothing has changed...I HAVE been very stressed out lately...Is it normal to lose some hair while shampooing...I cut my hair cut about 8 weeks ago and i'm thinking the way my stylist cut it might have something to do with it, too...and help greatly appreciated...

How do you maintain a constant 5 o'clock shadow like a lot of people do on tv etc. This would involve not shaving since you would have to wait for it to grow back. What is the best product or way to always maintain a constant small stubble?

I really want hair extensions.
I don't want to go to a salon and pay over $1000.
They have hair extensions at places like Sally Beauty Supply, but do they look good?
What kind should I get? Clip on or the kind you glue in?
How long do they last?
Can you just give me some info on hair extensions?

My hair is like 6 inches past my shoulders with layers + sideswept bangs,
so its pretty long, but i'm in a style rut.

should i keep growing and try to reach this length:

i'm just curious, it seems like more people have straight hair, but then again, those whom i see with straight hair often tell me they have to straighten it because its naturally curly. my hair is straight. what do you think? or know for a fact?

before i got the curl relaxer, i had naturally tight curls . my hair is currently wavy/curly but not tight its pretty much loose. ive had had the perm since mid february so its about 9 months. however, i do miss my old tight curls. my hair stylist said the perm will washout within 6 months, so by august 2007. how do i get the same tight curl look without getting my hair permed to tight curls?

I've always had shot hair, and i like to spike it up. A few years ago, i tried going long, but the stage inbetween the long and the shot hair was so bad, i got a haircut and have been short ever since. Anyone know how to make it, or any haristyles that don't loook to bad in the inbetween stage. Like i can still spike it up, but it doesn't look as well. I know it all really depends on my face lol, but any god hairstyles for that stage?

I have brownish-black hair, and i want it to be a medium/dark reddish-brown. I've tried revlon colorsilk and garnier hair color, but both didn't really work or get my hair the color it's supposed to be on the color guide on the box. i want to avoid salons and bleaching. anyone know of a box hair dye that can get my hair noticably lighter?

i tried a home highlighting kit once and it did work, so i know i should be able to do this at home.

I have fine super-kinky hair, but man its war everyday. Have you got any ideas or tips I could use to funk it up a little bit? Something manageable for school and something fun for going out. I don't want to use too much product or heat styling. Plus I'd rather not braid all of it.

I am obsessed with my hair, it has to be perfect. I straighten it b/c its just really discusting if i don't, when i don't it's not wavy or curley its just like this huge poof ball that flips in and out every which way, and it has curs under neath that stick out of the straight hair at the top! lol! But my hair has to be perfectily straight everyday and it can't look like it has dead ends or be friend and i want it a certin length. Okay, my hair is like two or three inches past my shoulder, naturally curly but I straighten it. I have short-ish layers(Not so short that they can be spiked, but the shortest one is like ear length).
