I have never dyed my hair and figured I would really try to grow old gracefully. With various shades in my hair naturally how could it even be duplicated?

You will need a hair dye that is multi-dimensional. One DIY brand is L'Oreal Natural Match. Link to product information:http://www.naturalmatch.com/

Here's an article w/ tips for selecting the right hair color: http://beauty.about.com/od/haircutscolor/a/colorforhair.htm

A professional hair dresser can create multi-dimensional color w/ various techniques. e.g. Applying a base color & adding highlights.

Consider consulting a professional first & seeing how well your gray hair takes dye.

You should also bear in mind that a professional stylist may recommend slightly brighter highlights or a deeper, richer base color to keep from making you look washed out.

Besides turning gray, your hair texture may have also changed & you might need to get a new hair cut that works for you now.

Legal aid,
Find an experienced professional colorist. They can help you achieve the color you really want, and do so successfully. The retail products will never satisfy your desire to match what you had when you were younger. And growing old GRAY-cefully only sounds good when you're that age! Seeing the gray rapidly replace it's original color starts making your skin look as gray as your hair, and it's not so nobel after all.
