i asked the same question. and this was my best answer. It might help you too.
First: Purchase a mild Shampoo (To Clarify hair, I will explain why)
Second: TRIM your hair ends (Maybe 1 1/2 to 2 inches)
Third: Here's the magic part: Mix olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and a "little" honey, (honey u will have to heat so it can blend). Either leave on ALL day or all night (if all nite, DONT use honey)
Use a teaspoon of every oil and honey,.... a little more if ur hair is long or a little less if ur hair is short
Repeat this 3-4 times a week, your hair will grow like a weed, fortify, reconstruct, moisturize, soften & remove all frizz I promise,..... and it will be super shiny!!!!
The clairifying shampoo will help take the oil off your hair when u shower
You can also use a conditioner but get a light conditioner that wont wiegh ur hair down, becuz u can over condition, I use herbl essences "clean happy" conditioner.
When I do this at nite, I wake up, shampoo & condition, rinse and style as usual. Has worked for years
You can find olive oil anywere, but the other oils you will have to buy at a local organics store, wholes foods or BJ's health corner.
Good luck. =]

There isn't really much you can do--most people's hair grows at the same rate throughout life, although there are variations between individuals. The average is about 1/2 inch per month, with an inch per month being about the maximum. Heredity and hormone levels are the primary factors influencing hair growth, and while it's possible to take hormone drugs, that would increase hair growth all over your body, not just on your head--plus other negative side effects are likely.
Eating a healthy diet and taking care of your hair will cause it to be in better condition and less prone to break, which can make it seem to grow faster. Wash your hair only when it appears to be oily or dirty, not necessarily every day; don't use harsh shampoos; don't tease or back-comb it; don't use heat (blow-drying, etc.) unless absolutely necessary; avoid tight ponytails and other styles that pull and stretch the hair; and use a natural-bristle brush.
I hesitate to say that these methods will make your hair "healthy"--hair is essentially dead tissue--but it'll be less damaged and will maintain its length and appearance better

Trim, Trim, Trims
In the meantime, concentrate on the health of your hair...It will grow at a more rapid pace.
The best way to find the best products for your hair is to try them all. That would be pretty expensive but go over to a friends house and use some of her stuff. See how it works, and just keep trying new things. Hair may work with products from this company and not that company....it's all trial and error.
If I can suggest something, I would suggest you try a hot oil treatment....for a cheaper way to have great soft and silky hair with less frizzies, warm up some olive oil (regular cooking stuff) in the microwave and massage it into your hair while it is dry. Wrap it up in a warm towel from the drier and sit for an hour or so. Maybe give yourself a facial at the same time. Then get in the shower, and shampoo out all the oil (because water won't get the oil out--oil and water don't mix) and then condition your hair. Viola! Beautiful silky hair.
The most key thing to protecting your locks is to stay away from all heat. Yep, that means no hairdrier, no straightner, no curling iron either....It's very hard not to advert to these products but just try it for a week. Don't blow dry your hair for a week....try it. I know it's hard not to but if you stay away from things with heat such as blow driers, curling irons, straightners, etc....you will notice a HUGE change in the feel and look of your hair. It will be so much more healthy.

Getting pregnant always worked for me - lol.
No really -- everyone's different, and you can't make your hair grow any faster. Just take good care of the hair you have, try to reduce breakage, and your hair will grow in its own time.
Also, some people get extensions if they can't wait...

There is a shampoo called mane and tail or some thing like that (it is a horse shampoo and conditioner) it is sold at wal mart in the HBA department, usually on the bottom shelf. I have never tried it but heard that it works really well.

Hi Hun,
Gelatin and protein are the best ways to get those long locks going! These are also the same components that help you grow longer nails.
You can find gelatin in your puddings, yogurts and even gel-o!
Protein is located in red meats as well.
Good luck!
