Hair - January 2007

I have fine thin hair that has been chemically damaged back in October by the chi permanent straightening system. I asked a professional stylist in my area about getting extensions to add just a little length and volume to keep me from washing and drying every day as this mess grows out, but she said the glue in extensions, which are the only kind she can do, would end up breaking my hair off further. Are the sew in extensions or hair weaving methods safe on fine thin hair without breaking it and if so, where can they be done in North Louisiana, south Arkansas, or Mississippi or Texas?

no matter the race-- white black, latino, indian, ect--this whole forum is full of people straigthening their hair, but why? Why do YOU straighten your hair?

Ok basically a long time ago I had highlights over my natural black hair color but about 3 months ago, I colored over it all just one even brown color which I liked very much. It faded and I went to the salon today to get the roots done and the rest colored so that the color would be even throughout.
However, I am but a poor college student so, to save a little cash, decided to blow-dry myself. This put me at a disadvantage because it was only until I got home that I saw it was too dark! It looks like my natural color-black :( I wanted it like a medium chestnut-type color.
Everyone knows coloring dries hair, but also it's obvious that with the 1st wash it will get somewhat (though not too much) lighter. However, the lady told me not to wash it in like 3 days so that the color would hold. I start class tomorrow and want it to look nice. I want to wash it but don't know if that will damage the already-dry hair somehow. What should I do to make it lighter SOON?

I blow dry my hair in the morning and curl my hair under just a tad. So when i get to school just like an hour later in school it just poofs out. I put anti friz stuff in my hair. I tried byosilk. And tried nothing in my hair nothing works. Is there a trick or some thing that would work?

..... ok, i am half black/white....i have blond extra curly hair and no matter what i always have tangles in my hair its so hard to take care of...ok well anywayz my friends always pester me to straightin my hair, when i tell them all my hair dose is gets like an afro whitch it dose because i tried it 2 times already.(even in the summer when its hot outside or humid my hair gets frizzy then starts to turn into a afro)...and it looks absoultly bad. No matter how much i tell them to stop bothering me about it they dont belive me and keep annoying me about it. Im 13 and its been going on for ever!! grr its pissing me off... so should i just keep on tell my friends to shut up or go to school with an afro so i get laughed at?

My daughter has long, very thick hair. She has headlice and the remedies from the store arent working. We just can't seem to get rid of them. We have even tried oil and mayo. (as suggested by others) We are getting so frustrated with these darn bugs!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So I did it, it worked amazingly, my hair looks shinny and beautiful, i also washed it with cold water, so it is much better.
Is there anything else you can recommend.
I have wavy hair right now and I NEED it to look perfect.
