Well olive oil does help for like a day but is so hard to wash out.It last for a day and then your hair gets greasy and nasty and poofy and then takes like a long shower to get out.I would say you just need to straighten your hair with a hair straightner and if you don't have one of those, there's pretty much nothing else you can do.So if you don't have one you need to get one.

Go to the salon and tell them you would like to thin it out a little bit. What they will do is take scissors that have a comb like feature on them and take the layers underneath and snip away until it thins out a little.

Oil will just make it greasy and flat, not thin. Ask a hair stylist to use thinning shears to thin it out. Easiest thing to do!
