My daughter has long, very thick hair. She has headlice and the remedies from the store arent working. We just can't seem to get rid of them. We have even tried oil and mayo. (as suggested by others) We are getting so frustrated with these darn bugs!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

drug store remedies should and most often do work

BUT you must do an INTENSIVE search and destroy mission through out your entire house

u must wash her bed linens, her clothers, sofa cushion covers, vacume all over your house

most likely the remedies kill the bugs on her head but are then revived by being exposed to it....if however this doesn't work you may need to buy two boxes of the lice killers instead of one...perhaps the solution is to weak for your daughters thick long hair

good luck...

if all else fails try tea tree oil...home remedy :)

+ check with your daughters school and/or class it might be running from child to child like the chicken pox

I feel your pain. One of the worst things I ever dealt with was head lice. I had the same problem you have.
Here's what I had to do. First apply the treatments to EVERYBODY in the house. Follow the instructions exactly and nothing else. That means you will have to go thru every ones hair and remove the nits. Then you will have to repeat this step ALL OVER again 7- 10 days later, making sure to go thru every ones hair and remove all the nits. EACH AND EVERY strand of hair. Yes that applies to pubic areas with hair .
Now while you are doing all that right before you do the first treatment you will have to vacuum every inch of carpet sofa, every type of fabric. You MUST pack up every single stuffed animal (sorry) You literally have wage a complete war on them. REMEMBER every fabric every bed you will use the spray liberally. You should also find out if there are other kids in her class or school with lice. They may not even know. But guess what? She got it from someone. Have her coat packed in a plastic bag when she goes to school. Lice just love to jump on everything.
I know how bothersome this is, but believe me now or believe me later: you must do exactly what I stated. And yes it is expensive. You might check with your local health dept. Some offer the products to some clients
Good luck to you. I feel your pain.

well first of all you have clean her hair which is good. But have you cleaned your house. The rid you use on her hair should be used as directed but they also sale spray to put where you can't wash things like you need to vacume all your rugs was all her bedding, put all her stuffed animals in the washer with hot water or spray them and put them in a garbage bag for a month to kill the bugs on the stuffed animals. if you do not clean everything even throw pillows you will find that they come back. You might even have to cut her hair. Hey a new style wont hurt for some time at least her hair can grow back. Right? either deal with it or live with it.

Ummmmmmmmmmmm,, Have you poured hot water or use any type of head lice medicine. Try this recipe for getting rid of head lice, I got it from a old women who try ed it her self .

2 or 3 pieces of garlic ( finely choped and grained)
4 pieces of Ginger (ch oped),with 1/2 juice of lemon
5 cups of hot boiling water,

In a bowl combine all ingredients , pour on the head . Wrap it in all towel . Leave it for 2 hours then take it off while bathing in hot
shower or water. Try it . The women used be a scientist who has been working on hair problems such as hair loss, head lice ,ect.

* Oil and mayo never works it only makes it worse. Please try this and good luck . This is not a joke.

Tea Tree oil helps AFTER you get them off her head. It helps keep the problem from reoccurring. If the pharmacy shampoos are not working...are you sure you are following directiosn properly and are the areas she infected be sanitized so she wouldnt get lice again?
Pillows, Couch, ALL clothes, Brushes, car, EVERYTHING needs to be sanitized. Also make sure you are buying the lice comb and dragging all the eggs and bugs out of her scalp and off her hair.......
Embarassing as it is, tell her friends parents as well, maybe she is getting the lice over and over again from an infested friend

Have to use some rid......and then use the nit comb that is in there, and take your time, divide the hair in to sections..and comb it all out. If you just leave one nit.....then the infection starts all over again. Also, you're going to have to check EVERYONE in the house, plus the chidren that play with her. He bedding should be sprayed and washed, as well as her mattress and pillow...if you have carpet..you may want to consider fogging your house. This is something you're going to have to be aggresive with. If you don't......then the only alternative is to cut her hair.....and I knowy you don't want to do that. Best of luck to you.
