I'm taking photography and it is something I like very much, I've even considered becoming a photographer after I graduate....but I have to ask is photography becoming a dead art?

I know alot of people will be quick to disagree with me but, with the new digital technology it seems like anyone can take a cool, beautiful, or interesting photo....so is there really any point in becoming a professional photographer?

I can understand artists, painters, etc. Some people have no artistic skill and others are gifted beyond belief...but it seems like the photographer really depends on the quality of his camera (lighting, etc) not his own ability. So what is really the difference between a professional photograher and an amateur with a digital rebel?

give me your thoughts.

Hello, I want to be able to capture the sunrise on my dv camcorder but of course there isnt enough space on a regular tape to be able to do this. Is there a way of converting my camera to take time delayed footage every so often or are there special techniques i could apply. ideally, i want to be able to capture 4 hours of footage and condense that down to a 20 second speeded up clip.

thanks dudes.

What constitute a lie? Is it just when it's digitaly manipulated? is it when it's staged? how about presenting just one image instead of a whole range of moments showing different views of the same thing?

I heard there's a site that can morph your picture into an ape even change your race. Does anyone know the link to this site? I'd really appreciate it if you could post it. Thank you.

Will the quality of pictures get affected when photographs are taken with half frame sensor cameras like NIKON D200 or D100 & full frame sensor cameras like CANON mark II. What is the difference between the two pics taken with these cameras?

Has anyone worked with glass plate negatives before? Is it a difficult thing to do? And is it worth it to do it this way? I know Sally Mann has worked with glass plate negatives. I like her imagery.

Here is my flickr account. I want to try and expand my skill and the best way I learn is getting tips on how to get better. Besides shot in RAW and edit the pictures, can you tell me what I could do better on some of my shots. Any critiques would be nice, family does not help much because they always say "Good Job!"

When you look at a photograph it is not a mirror image except for the writing in the photo. If you look at the picture from the other side through the photo paper, the words appear normal. WHY?

I am asking because I am getting pretty serious about photography and I know that Film is going out but I want to know where I can find a nice 4x5 format camera that will shoot color and B&W film, if I can even get color film still for this format, and is there a digital form of a 4x5 format camera? I am planning two series for the spring and am hoping to have them by then. Also where can I buy the film online for a good price, besides ebay?

I'm thinking there are three possible answers: 1. Sure, and here's a link to where you can buy it. 2. Yes, but it would be so expensive that wouldn't be worth it, or 3. No, it would have a negative depth of focus.

I need to find a black and white picture of a crowd/audience at something like an award ceremony. I am organizing a "golden life" award night (like golden globes) and i want to make my nomination cards look cool. My idea is to use black with a corner picture cut out of an audience cheering or something...if you know of any pics or an idea of where to find one please help!

I want to take off some ugly watermarks from some jpgs. Is there a way of doing it? Is there software that will do it quickly? I don't have Photoshop nor do I want to muck about with Gimp or Dogwaffle, if I don't have to.
