After years of being too afraid to show people my photography, I've started to upload to an online photography site, the thing is, I'm not getting any good feedback or criticism. I want to know where I do well, where I could do better etc...?
Can you give me your opinion
[either here or to my email: this_is_ridiculous-@hotmail.com]

thank you.

In the begging I started by doing free stuff for friends and family. Usually I get hired by companies to shoot their wedding videos, but they pay me by the hour and not by the job. So they make the big bucks and I get a small share. I want to know how to find these jobs on my own in order to charge them my price, which is the same as a company price but at least I get most of the pay for "my" work. thanks in advance

Hi everyone,

I'm obviously not a photographer, but my sister is. She shoots digital.

She has been doing it for about 6 months and is really serious. I want to get her some stuff that will help her for x-mas. Really good qualtiy stuff. Can someone give me a list of maybe the top 10 things every photographer should own (other then a camera of course!) and specifics, like specific lighting, specific lighting items etc...Maybe things that work together and make some sort of great set. She shoots both studio and outdoor. She's better at outdoor though, but again she's trying to learn how to do studio. She just had a photoshoot, and she's still learning a lot about lighting. Sorry to ramble :) I believe in getting this for christmas that a person can actually use, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

My mom has a huge amount of antique ornaments from my grandmother. I would like to photograph these ornaments, then have my mom give descriptions of them.
What would be the best way to photograph these ornaments?
What is a good setting? Just a black sheet or paper? Something else to just sit the ornament on? to snap a photo?
What is some good software, to put a photo in. Then add some text? I was thinking genology software. But something must be better?
thanks for any help

I have developed a slide film (with a cross process), so i have negative image on my slide film.

I wonder if it possible you use the normal scanner, not those fancy film scanner to scan a image on film to my laptop.

I don't mean style or personal taste, I mean capabilities, functions, utilities, etc...

If I got a computer it would be for drawing using Paint Shop or Photoshop...

OK, I'm jumping on this bandwagon and looking for some critique on my photos. I've told some of you want I think of yours, now let me know what you think of mine. :)

How do they make you feel? Do you like each of them? What do they lack? How could I have taken each of them better?

I want the TRUTH! And nothing more.

Thanks!

I plan on taking a series of night shots of well lit streets. I have a tripod, a vintage Minolta SRT101 camera, 10 rolls of ASA 400 film, a f1.7 lens and a release cable. What I'm asking is, what shutter speed(s) would you recommend for taking still images of lit streets with absolutely no movement present (i.e. no light trails from cars or people).

To narrow things down a little, I'd like really clear shots with minimal noise and really deep blacks to contrast the street lights.

Asking alot I know but please try and help, thanks.

This is another question from a pre-existing question I have asked. They say you can't take a random photograph and use it as a template in a paint program which I don't think is right. The person may own the picture and it's copyright but if the end product of said change only resembles the pre-existing picture in shape and nothing else, how can they have copyright over a shape? All of an artist work derives from something. May watch a show and get an idea that derived from it. Therefore since your new idea is based on it only in the resulting context that it inspired you, does that mean you can't then use that idea. An exact cloning of the work in question I agree is wrong and deserves protective but if you change it so much that it doesn't resemble the work outside of the similarity of shapes and pose then what? Can someone thereby copyright shape and pose? Can I thereby copyright a shade of love that no one can use? Oh wells. Thanks for looking.

See http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/ but this question is only about the first two images. As long as I don't add anything, they should be side-by-side for your comparison. Of course, you can click on either one to enlarge it for a better look.

Yes, they are dark, but that's part of my vision here. It was about half an hour after sunset and there was still a bit of a glow on the white sycamore trees. At first, I waited for any passing cars to go by, but then I decided to capture one just to see how it would come out.

What's your opinion? Do you like it better with or without the car lights? Maybe you don't like it at all and you can say so.

This is another one of those times when I was glad I had a camera in my pocket, but I wish I had the D200 and a tripod with instead... I'll have to try this another night, unless the peanut gallery tells me not to bother.

Thanks.

Im in high school at the moment and im really looking into going to Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, CA. From what i read its one of the best photography schools around. Does anyone know about the cost? Quality? Size? ect. I would really love to become a fashion photographer. I know this road has limited opportunities so i would not mind becoming a portrait or wedding photographer. I am not the industrial photographer type. I like people. Also, do i need a portfolio. Im building mine right now as a Sophomore in high school. This is my website. Please comment on my work. Could i get in with the quality of my shots?

Thanks.
