Okay, so I looked around and I found a lens I thought would be best for concert photography. It is the EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM. I photograph mostly local bands, so distance is not a problem.. most of the time I can get relatively close to the stage. Do you think this is a wise decision? If you have a better lens in mind that would work well for what I would like to do, then PLEASE let me know!! Thank you!!!!

Ok, i've just bought a Vivtar ultra wide and slim camera after reading about how it produces lomo/holga type images on 35mm film. Now i keep reading everywhere that i need to ask for the film to be cross processed in order to get the desired effect I am looking for. I've read about E6, C41, slide negative etc processing which means nothing to me. I've been into some of the local labs and asked if they can xpro the film. Most have said they cant but some have said they can do it, depending on what kind of film it is - they can do it from slide to negative but not the other way around.

Now they might as well be speaking chinese to me. I've been using digital for my photos and dont know anything about using film. I havnt got a clue what kind of film i am using - it is just the cheapest iso400 35mm film that Tesco sold me.

Can anyone explain to me what kind of film I will probably be using and also tell me what i should be asking for when i go to get the film processed?

I have been doing a bunch of step-by-step lost wax casting and writing descriptions of it. I find I am using the same words for results at different steps, which becomes awkward if I want to refer back to a previous step. There are probably nice standard names but I don't know them because of being self taught from a variety of sources.
Like this
1. Make a clay model that represents 1/3 of the final object. Positive?
2. Coat this with latex molding material to make a negative copy. Negative? Soft Negative?
3. Back the latex with plaster to support it. Support Negative?
4. Pour wax into the supported mold. Wax Positive?
5. Repeat to make 2 more copies.
6. Use heat to weld the 3 pieces into a wax - what? Positive, Wax Original?
7. Add venting and sprues for casting. Call it?
8. Encase the wax positive with investment. Mold!
This gets a more complicated when the surrounding for the wax is in sections as in making a large statue.
9. Heat to melt the wax out

In a photography video I saw in class the other night, the lady used a vinyl pull down window shade and used several colors of paints and made a beautiful backdrop. Has anyone seen this video or used this idea to make a backdrop? I'm on a budget and thought this might work and allow me to paint, my other hobby.

hi i would like to paint an acrylic painting, approx 20"X24"
should i use an archival canvas panel or stretched canvas?
i want it to look pro, and i want it to last. i also want protection.
what're the cons of archival canvas panels??
if i use stretched canvas i probably won't frame it (how do you even frame it?)

The trick to "white balance" is taking pictures while it is still cold.

I'm looking for a good high quality drawing pen with a very fine tip. I don't want sharpies or kids makers. I want something that i can use for detail. I like to draw alot, but the pens i use bleed into the paper. Oh, and can you also reccomend a good type of paper to use it on? I normally use a sketch book but it doesn't work very well with what i'm drawing. Any suggestions? Anything will help.

Thanks

My dream is to become a full-time photographer, and I just want some opinions of my work.
I'm fifteen years old by the way. I use a Canon PowerShot S3 IS. No tripod, no lens, nothing.

I copyrighted the last one because I'm going to try and sell it if I can, and I don't want anyone to steal it, lol.

Thanks!

sometimes I see a great photograph and try and determine the focal point. Could it be that the entire image is the focal point? I was just curious since it was something I read about composition that when taking pictures, you should have a focal point. Thanks.

I want to get my Mom a plein-air backpack for Christmas, but I'm not sure which one would be best on her back. The Spunky Monkey looks great, but is a little out of my price range.

Ideally, I would like to get one that can hold either her French easel or M Box and tripod, and has a waist strap.

Any help and/or reviews (even negative ones) would be much appreciated.
