I have some portraits drawn with Kimberley graphite drawing pencils in my drawing book. Will fixative really preserve the drawing and keep it from smudging onto the previous page?

The answer to your question is as follows : "probably not" " if the drawing is in contact with another drawing even if the drawing has been fixed and is then put in place on your page..........All fixative really does or is supposed to do is to Stop your drawing's surafce from moving from the surface of the paper to another surace,....what Fixative is in reality is very thin laquer which is alcohol based or acetone based, irt dries quickly and as long as you dont move it around alot, it should be fine, bare in mind here,.....if you move it around a great deal, all that laquer will just fall off leaving your drawing looking very blotchey.....so fin d a way to display your drawing under glass perhaps,....in a metal frame kit available at most any frame store, they are cheap and very professional looking and they are fairly easy to transport........hope this has helped.

It won't PREVENT smudging. It will only make it harder to smudge.
